Does anyone here actually think these are Potter signings? I sure as **** don’t, I think he’s massively out of his depth and they are just hoovering players up left right and centre for silly money for ****s and giggles. I don’t think he has any ****ing idea of who they are, where/how he’s gonna play them, which ones he actually has to keep and register for the squad or which ones are being loaned out etc etc. Can’t wait until they implode and sugar daddy bohely ****s off and leaves them in the ****. Can we change the thread title to Chelsea Rams please as well just for fun?
Just read more on this FFP utter ****ing bullshit. Rather than do what they ****ing should do and count the agreed fee as an outgoing cost and remove amortisation, they’ve said it’s five years. Chelsea would still have done every deal under these rules so it’s still just pathetic ****housery on both sides.
How the **** can Chelsea still offer what would be a british record £105m for Fernandez after having already spunked £300m or so this window so far?
105m / 7 = 15m a year. They were £35m under the 3 year FFP limit at last check on the Swiss Ramble report... They signed Malo Gusto and loaned him back but he won't have dented that. It's a risky game they're playing. But basically, playing in and winning champions leagues is a lucrative gig.
They're operating inside the constraints they've been set... As ridiculous as it is, they're not doing anything wrong, yet.
Very risky, especially if they don't qualify for Europe to maintain that revenue stream in the future. I hope somewhere along the way they have messed up their numbers and get hit hard for FFP & tax.
They won't - the penalties are pitiful. Some paid up front, and some, maybe paid later, depending on if you've been good or not. The joke about FFP isn't the way it's structured (which clearly favour larger, revenue generating clubs from the off) but it's the lack of any meaningful penalty for flaunting it. Maybe these new UEFA rules coming in might bite harder, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I thought there were potential transfer embargos as well. Although Chelsea should have enough players on their books to not have to worry about that.
I think they are trying to win the “ who can beat Forest to sign the most players in one season competition “
They'll need to go on a truly exceptional run to get anywhere near the top 4 now. Us, Spurs and Brighton all would need to have bad second halves of the seasons for them to claw back enough points. Pretty unlikely, particularly as we've also strengthened. My biggest fear for a top 4 miss is injuries to key players. Unless Chelsea win the Champions League there needs to be a major shift in form of a number of clubs for them to qualify for next season's CL now.
I wouldn't think it's a done deal yet, look at our run or Manures, our 3 draws gave them all a chance, scousers have a game in hand, win that and it's down to 7 points and they have to play us, so no there's still a lot to do, wouldn't rule Chelsea out either, a good run and beat a couple of teams around you and they're back in it but if we start scoring again then we'll make it hard for everyone.
We should just go smash the ****ing granny out of it if that's all it is, we had a 14 year transfer embargo so we'll be good
