Shame such a promising player has thrown his career away, and what a nightmare for his club, but no sympathy with him personally whatsoever. Got what he deserved.

Of course he will, and they will lose their top scorer. Imagine if we had to sack Lambert, wouldn't that be a nightmare?
It's actually worked out ok in a sense for his club. They are virtually over the line for promotion and will be looking at better strikers in the Summer. It could have been different if the trial was 3-4 months ago.
To me this case is all a bit confusing, although I have only heard snippets. I cannot see how one got 5 years and the other an acquittal especially as the 'rape' in question was due to her being too intoxicated.
Absolute disgrace of a sentence. 5 years for having sex with a drunken women. If she didn't want to end up having sex with someone she didn't want to, don't get so drunk.
Seriously? It's her fault for drinking too much therefore she got what was coming? So you've never drunk too much? If someone had raped you then it would have been your fault? Your attitude is appalling. Yes people shouldn't drink too much because it makes them vulnerable to scumbags like Evans, but it certainly isn't her fault!
A) He was found guilty and was therefore beyond reasonable doubt (also a very low number of rape charges end in convictions)
B) You don't know what the evidence was apart from what was speculated in the press.
I don't get this either. They both had sex with her yet only one of them 'raped' her? She said she woke up the next day without a clue as to what had happened and still cannot remember any of it to this day.
From what I've read it seems McDonald said that he met with the girl who went back to his hotel room and consented to having sex with him, then Evans came along and watched for a bit and then joined in. Evans' brother recorded it on his phone and it seems like the jury have decided from that video that when Evans joined in she was too pissed/passed out, so was in no position to consent to having sex with Evans, but they obviously felt that she was in a position to consent to McDonald.
The thing that is very confusing is she says she didn't consent to either but claims she can't remember anything
Nice logic, so next time you're drunk it's ok if someone sticks it up your arse is it?
