I know some are saying we are playing a 19 year old kid upfront, but that is only due to Llorente and his broken wrist isn't it ?
Llorente is class - we are much more potent with him on the pitch. He could well have scored the chances that Abraham squandered these past 2 weeks. So for me, another striker - I'd be happy with Bony is needed, but we need someone to replace the Icelandic dude more importantly.

And goals,assists and work rate.

I think its Burnley Slutsky, love that name, is referring to Libby, or at least I hope so.

If we don't replace Siggy with quality then its obvious what's happening under the American regime. If its us Slutsky is talking about and we're in for Clucas then we're effectively competing with BURNLEY for the signature of a CHAMPIONSHIP midfielder as the direct replacement for Siggy who last year was the most effective midfielder in the entire premier league also valued at less than 1/3rd of Siggys worth. With all due respect to Clucas, does anyone else think he'd be one hell of a down grade, it would be like replacing Messi with Mesa wouldn't it?

In politics they call this a 'cutback', in business its 'downsizing', in the financial markets its an 'abbreviation' in reality its 'releaving an asst of its value', or sucking the meat off the bone.

If we survive this year in the prem expect the process to be repeated next with the likes of Carroll, Olsson, Fabianski, Llorente, even Clucas if stock rises sufficiently, who could be up for sale.

The owners wont sell them all at once, I doubt they're that stupid if at all, but they will look to sell the players with the highest profitable value and replace them with cheap(er) imitations. In the not too distant future all that will be left of our club will be the carcass which will be sold on as a going concern, a bit of a doer upper, the rites to the Liberty, the carrot at the end of the stick to encourage would be suiters.

I could be wrong of course, it could be all the pills I'm on making me feel this way but I just cant get a positive view in y head until we start buying in some quality to help us secure our premier league status. Until that happens then its doom and gloom in my head, unless of course we can find another Michu each and every year.

Today has shown that we need 3 top quality creative/attacking player.

Cheapos from the championship won't cut it.

Let's not pass the point that Davies played a part in the 3 games leading up to Tiendalli being snapped up . And at this point , I almost hate to bring up wiki again although they are usually write 99 per cent of the time but if you go to Tiendalli,s wiki it says he was brought in as " Defensive cover ". IMO , Davies was already attacking Taylor position leading up to breaking his leg ... There .....lol

Roof - you wrote:

"Basically we got 45 million for Ben Davis when we sold Siggy , 45 million for an academy player that Laudrup brought in and gave a chance to due to injury instead of looking around to bring someone else in . Brilliant eye for talent which led to a brilliant piece of business."

I merely pointed out that he did bring someone in - Tiendalli.

Perhaps Ben's talent & ability was more the case - rather than a brilliant eye for talent<cheers>

I also said that Ben made the position his own so your comment (2601) above is superfluous.
Of course someone would have to come in Taff , because we needed coverage and Tiendalli plays both sides . All I was saying in this original statement was Laurdrup wasn,t going to spend big money on a LB to come in and take direct control of LB as a starter . If he did , it wouldn'tt have been Tiendalli

I read that Hull had turned down a £12 million offer from Huw, but I wasn't aware that Burnley were also after him. I took the comment by Slutsky to imply that Clucas was dreaming of eating Joe's ice cream in the rain at The Mumbles. Perhaps I have jumped the gun. <laugh>

How did he get Tienalli then ? Aren't you allowed to replace an injured player under these conditions , and if you are I don't think your limited to how much you can spend

You can only sign players who are unattached ie no other club has given them a contract
