Hull don't want him to sell their influential midfielder but will be looking to cash in if they have to, sound familiar? Clucas is Hull's Siggy, he's the heartbeat of their team and Hull are a far better team with him in it. Don't forget, Clucas and Hull beat us 3 times last season. His 2017 market value has to be around £20m but naturally his value to Hull is far more. The board do appear to be reluctant to spend any money by offering 2016 market prices for players. £10m for Bony? unconfirmed reports we upped it to £13m, is a joke bid. Abraham an untried, untested, yet to score in the prem league kid is valued more. £12m bid for Clucas the heartbeat of another team, a bid at last years price. £3m Andy Yiadom a superb prospect at RB, only makes sence if we had no intention to actually buy him. We've made a publicly announced enquiry with no actual bid for Joe and are yet to make any move for any quality players at all including Viera, Chadli. Maybe as Libby says, we shouldn't expect the majority share holders to put their hands in their pocket and buy players, maybe he's right. I think though we as fans we can expect them to be making an effort, or at least be seen trying, to maintain the squad sufficiently to keep us in the prem. That's how I see the Clucas deal if it goes through. Clucas to replace Siggy smells like a maintenance deal to me, designed to just about keep the club in the prem with the bare minimum of effort. It looks more and more like the heady days of striving for a mid table finish are gone for us. All we've got to look forward to is another white knuckle ride on the relegation express.
The transfer profits have not been reinvested into the squad for over 3 seasons, there is always a substantial top slice disappearing ?...................
The telling issue for me, is that we are playing an untested kid up front? this after last season beggars belief, and as you rightly say, nothing on the bench either, also why we haven't brought in an obvious RB just goes to show the crap mentality of Jinx and the board, going to be a long hard season.........
...................and his back-up is Ollie McBurnie who has far more premier league experience, but has scored the same number of premier league goals, ZERO
I don't rate McBurnie at all, simply not good enough and should be out on loan to a lower league, seems the only ambition from Jinx and his band of thieves is to line their own pockets, the Yanks are set from the same mould also..............
Thats a statement of intent. If it doesn't set the alarm bells ringing in our Board room, nothing will.
A strike rate of 1 in 2 in the championship is very, very impressive. We should have been looking at him.
Clucas update. After Hull's defeat at QPR, Hull manager Leonid Slutsky said that the midfielder is " preparing to play for another Club ". Possible increased offer pending.
I know some are saying we are playing a 19 year old kid upfront, but that is only due to Llorente and his broken wrist isn't it ? Llorente is class - we are much more potent with him on the pitch. He could well have scored the chances that Abraham squandered these past 2 weeks. So for me, another striker - I'd be happy with Bony is needed, but we need someone to replace the Icelandic dude more importantly.
I think its Burnley Slutsky, love that name, is referring to Libby, or at least I hope so. If we don't replace Siggy with quality then its obvious what's happening under the American regime. If its us Slutsky is talking about and we're in for Clucas then we're effectively competing with BURNLEY for the signature of a CHAMPIONSHIP midfielder as the direct replacement for Siggy who last year was the most effective midfielder in the entire premier league also valued at less than 1/3rd of Siggys worth. With all due respect to Clucas, does anyone else think he'd be one hell of a down grade, it would be like replacing Messi with Mesa wouldn't it? In politics they call this a 'cutback', in business its 'downsizing', in the financial markets its an 'abbreviation' in reality its 'releaving an asst of its value', or sucking the meat off the bone. If we survive this year in the prem expect the process to be repeated next with the likes of Carroll, Olsson, Fabianski, Llorente, even Clucas if stock rises sufficiently, who could be up for sale. The owners wont sell them all at once, I doubt they're that stupid if at all, but they will look to sell the players with the highest profitable value and replace them with cheap(er) imitations. In the not too distant future all that will be left of our club will be the carcass which will be sold on as a going concern, a bit of a doer upper, the rites to the Liberty, the carrot at the end of the stick to encourage would be suiters. I could be wrong of course, it could be all the pills I'm on making me feel this way but I just cant get a positive view in y head until we start buying in some quality to help us secure our premier league status. Until that happens then its doom and gloom in my head, unless of course we can find another Michu each and every year.
