Nige has always said (in the interviews that I’ve watched) he has nothing or no interest of what goes on with the money side of things..which counteracts with what Alexander is saying..
or has Nige agreed to work with what’s put in front of him?
The problem I have, I’ve never heard Nige mention players that he needs etc.. maybe by voicing that we are players short to make a go for it would give us the understanding of how we sit.. Question is; is he getting the backing that he feels he needs?

Nope - sadly i think Nige will hand the keys back in at the end of his contract and probably end up back at Leicester.

NP is really in a no lose situation tbh, if he fails to achieve top 10, we’ll just say given backing he could have. If he does it will be despite SL and co, not because of him.
Either way I can’t see his contract being extended, he’s just not like SL and his hangers on.

Even if we somehow manage top 6, or even get promoted (pigs might fly) they’ll still look to replace him at the quickest opportunity. That’s if he doesn’t walk himself , or at least not take up another term even if it’s offered.

it’s a shame because I’m convinced if we backed him properly, given time he’d get us up.

There has been a lot of savvy based comments made on this thread and each and every one has valid reasons why we always seem to end up back in the same place. The monies spent by various owners for a lot of different managers have essentially been wasted and unfortunately the rot continues unabated under SL who for reason that escapes me doesn't allow the cream to rise to the top. Looking back over the big money earned by selling our class players during the ownership of SL, followed by the almost religious fervour of not re-investing those income streams to boost the squad to the degree needed to get Lansdown apparent wishes fulfilled. Hargreaves Lansdown is a very successful business entity and perhaps we need the first name on the company logo to join our merry band but he probably has more sense than his partner and has no desire to get involved in a club that has totally lost it's way and desire to achieve. If I am brutally honest I think we are fortunate to have such a benefactor but for goodness sake Steve please surface for air and tell the truth to the supporters. The beating heart of the team may be on the pitch but the blood supply so vitally needed to support that vital organ is sitting in the pay-per-view section, and if you ignore the obvious you have missed the whole point of running and owning a football club. We want, need and deserve better from you Steve.

Quite frankly if I were Nigel Pearson I would be looking for new employment after basically being fed the same line as Coppell, and look how soon he found the smelly rat at Ashton Gate.

Spot on.

He's cut the squad and therefore the annual wage bill by £10million and deserves the very highest praise. Especially as I think we'll end up in mid table.
Lansdown would be mad not to offer Pearson a new and improved contract.
However there's something in the air at AG I'm not sure about.

And the conclusion I always reach is that Lansdown is a control freak and only employs yes men.
He talks the talk but when rare opportunities for success are there for the taking, he won't walk the walk.
He's improved the set up of the club and has I believe made good money out of Bristol Sports and the business side of things
But in many respects, he's thwarted progress where it matters most, on the pitch and in the dugout.

ROD and others say I'm his stalker but the man has done a tremendous job since taking the job.

I know he’s your hero and all that, but the “man has done a tremendous job” is way way over the top.. up to now he’s done an ok job under the circumstances but no more than that imo. Some would say (and I agree) that it’s been a tricky few years, with having to clear out some players to reduce the wage bill..
With the players at his disposal, I still feel he should be doing a lot better.. some of his selections, tactics, setups etc have quite often been well below par.. trying to sit back on slender leads frustrate the life out of me, especially with some of our kamikaze defending, which should never be the case with his background..
Maybe with some decent funds he could shine, but he’s never asked and I’m not sure if he had an open cheque book, he’d know what to do.
He’s done an ok job so far. But this season looks to be his best one, so let’s see where that takes us..

Right up until not too long ago Nige did have the luxury of having the two AS’s and we still struggled.. Not in front of goal but defensively we were dreadful and quite often to do with the way we were set up & tactics..
I’m sure most of us said at the beginning of the season, he has his own team, he’s had time with the players we had how to go about the season. Only Scott has left and he was injured anyway. No excuses to go on and have a decent season. Don’t really understand why it’s now different..

He may have been involved with Alexander setting the budget along with maybe Tinman? or/& but not SL or JL! if they said X Y &L ... then Alexander and NP have to work on that!
Reading it through... it was stated an agreed amount was available with or without the sale of AS .. OBVIOUSLY info from upstairs had set the rules well before transfer window! so although it seems an issue it isnt

You failed to point out anything about my post which wasn’t accurate .
I hope we do have a decent season. I think in reality it’s going to be tough, tougher than it needed to be, a couple more players from the proceeds of the Scott sale would have helped no end.

So, we’ve no longer got the two AS’s , the first AS was replaced by players costing two pence halfpenny, because that’s all we were allowed to spend, the second one wasn’t replaced at all, although apparently we bought our 4 replacements this window with the proceeds before he was sold, even though we were told, as was Tinnion and Pearson apparently, there was a plan b if Scott was sold. Instead SL will trouser it. ( I get he’s entitled to do that), but why did he lead us to believe he’d allow us to spend some of it?

We’ve got 17 fit outfield players at present, what if, heaven forbid , one or more of them get injured as well?
The squad isn’t big enough, we don’t have strength in depth imo, even if we didn’t have 4 long term injuries, especially when we had money, but weren’t allowed to spend it.
if we have no more injuries, I still think it’s asking a lot with 17 fit outfielder players for the next couple of months as there is little opportunity to rotate the squad. The amount of games in such short periods of time and the amount of intensity these days, you need to rotate players to maintain freshness,

Imo Nige has a monumental task to do well this season, I can see a few more injuries, remember those 17 include Williams, Naismith and James, none of which has the best injury record. Then potentially we could be down to 14 fit outfield players, that’s tight!!
