Charlton have only played a tradition 442 once in the last couple of months. They have occasionally played a 451 or a 532 but more often they've played a midfield diamond, moving towards a 433. If that pattern continues, we'd be better off playing 3 central midfielders and stifling them through the centre.

from what i have seen of Power he can't hold a candle to Catts, and without Grant we are ****e, Catts is the one who protects the defence, and Grant on the corners, where he has started making us a threat, and his passing and vision is also way above the rest, only an idiot would not start these two.

You are right about Leadbitter and corners and other deadball kicks. But like Cattermole he is slow... so do you play the two

Is this a serious question? Of course he needs to start.
We do have a conundrum though. Only 3 out of 4 midfielders can play and id like to see Honeyman dropped out the 4 although it probably wont happen.
Grants calmness on the ball and set-pieces also makes him a must to start aswell in my opinion.

Making Honeyman the club captain has caused a few problems in selection. He will probably start on Sunday but I would like the same 3 centre mids as the 2nd leg but with 2 of McGeady, Maguire and Morgan out wide. I like Honeyman as an impact sub later on.

Morgan always runs out of steam - not sure why - reminds me a bit of Duncan when he was younger (and fitter!!) in that he'll run and run and run for 45 minutes then just be completely ineffective afterwards! So Morgan, Maguire, McGeady I'd start with the latter 2 personally. Maguire is a complete wind up merchant too! Great to have in your side but awful to play against

Catts is a shoe in, he didn’t play well as such in the semis but he lead, and that’s what Catts does, born leader which has outweighed any flaws this season.

I’d go Catts, Grant and Power, with Maguire and McGeady (if fit), and just go at them.

Agreed. They all offer something different. Grants passing and set pieces. Catts tenacity and leadership. Power good shot, energy and all rounder to get about the pitch.

No, me neither. Can’t slate the lad's effort but little comes of it. He’s not a bad player but as you say, little influence.

Even Gooch, who’s not getting a mention, gets at people, decent crosses and odd goal.

I guess a lot stems on McGeady fitness, for me I’ll be confident if he’s there, a lot more nervy if he isn’t. He’s a match winner, we all know he is. Realistically the only stand out player in that respect.

I absolutely agree with every word. It makes no sense at all to play a CB when we can shoehorn a CM in there, and playing 2 lads with no experience and no evidence of ability yet in the biggest game of the season is a master stroke.

I also suggest we play Samson at left back, and Delilah in goal. God knows why we’ve been playing first team footballers all season when we have life size feline mascots available.

Actually, stuck Delilah up front as well, we don’t need a keeper.

Has he, really ?, he cant play football for me, and his passing is like his tackling, rash, I know some people think every Ref in the country has it in for him, but that is just bollocks, and before I am accused, I am not a wum or a Geordie in disguise. Having said that he plays for me as well, as does Honeyman, Power and Leadbitter, the choice I cant decide on is who should play alongside Wyke and I would go probably with McGeady over Maguire, Gooch or Morgan but only if he is fit enough to last 60 minutes. I am still unconvinced with Grigg, even though I think we have yet to see the best of him, at least I hope we haven't.

Been away a couple of days, I can understand the Cattermole Fan Club not liking the question but if Ross is going two in Centre Midfield we cant play Leadbitter and Cattermole, too slow. Powers energy for me +another, on a big pitch like Wembley I'd start with Leadbitter get on the front foot and bring Catermole on for the last twenty minutes. WUM........ not really , I think Leadbitter is the more likely to play a defence splitting ball and has excellent set piece ability .
