I’m not sure what to do, they’ve said they won’t refund, but if you ring and cancel, on the basis that you want it to watch football, I’m guessing that you might get a deal x

You can’t cancel yet as the games are delayed and not cancelled, it’s being reviewed almost hourly, in all likelihood they will suspend sport charges if it goes on, but if they were to release millions of customers from contracts there would be mass job losses and several clubs would instantly be out of business.

There’s always a bigger picture, for all that Sky are perceived as a mega rich and greedy company, the fact remains that TV rights deals are paid in instalments and if they lose £160,000,000 worth of revenue a month, the whole thing could collapse.

I can tell any customers that there’s massive work being done internally to try and make it work for customers, but the issue is the ‘3 week delay’.

They need the FA to come out and admit that it’s going to be months as it’s handicapping a firm solution.

Yeah, I totally get it mate, there’s a big difference to the business though if it suspends charges for example then it still has the future revenue, if it removes contracts the business is handicapped.

Sky employ 31,000 people, and I genuinely can say are a great employer, not to mention since leaving the Murdoch group they are hugely involved in community projects and environmental issues, for them to be butchered due to this would be catastrophic for the country, far beyond Sky.

It will be better for us is they just say ‘season is done’, then a contingency can be made, it’s such a weak response at the moment from the FA, if someone’s in an 18 month deal, Sky could potentially lose an 18 month revenue forecast for 2 games being missing.

That would halt recruitment and development, currently recruiting up to 4,000 new heads in a time when companies are disappearing.

There will certainly be something put in place to protect customers. I’m speaking on a forum not a work related thing, and I can tell you it’s a far more customer focused business than people ever give credit for, given that it’s not cheap.

If folk sit tight for a few days, there will be a plan, I’m certain of that.

Timing couldn’t be worse with Golf majors and F1 due to start, the 2 biggest draws after the football. It’s gonna be a rough few weeks for sure.

Sky are also the rights holders for the Bundesliga in Germany and Serie A in Italy so my days mate it’s major.

Entire leagues and tournaments could collapse if Sky did, including our own top 2 divisions, it’s mental.

If I could add, not speaking out of turn but as a 10 year poster with all you lads your like pals I don’t know, always if you can look on the website rather than calling, as info will be clear on there. The frontline call handling staff are human and under massive pressure, and they will have the same information. Once there’s an action, it’s worth calling, until then use the web page for updates.

The VIP scheme is fantastic, just remember to speak to us every 18 month and your deal will stay low. That applies to anyone over 3 years, and gets bigger the longer you stay.

Aye the deals including BT sport are wicked mate, you e done a good negotiation there that’s about as low as you could have got that . Sport inc BT is £35 minimum so you’ve got the rest for £20 which is a blinding bit of bartering by you.

They are aiming to make HD free but the US channels charge for it so we have to, you’ll likely get those back at some point.

You can add Netflix for £4 now as well, which is class value I was paying £12!

I would have thought Sky are obligated to offer refunds to any customer who is paying for the sports packages if they are not broadcasting the live sporting events such as Football, Cricket, F1 and Rugby. Sky saying that events have been postponed isn't good enough, events are being cancelled not postponed. If I was Sky customer I'd stop my direct debit until a full service was resumed.

That is most likely what they will do.

The announcement was made at 11am on Friday after the FA confirmed to Sky on Thursday that ‘all games will go ahead as planned’

Companies have to be given time to get contingency in place. It already looks like British Airways and Virgin are going to have mass redundancies.

Customers are absolutely responsible for staff salaries in the private sector, that is exactly how businesses work, a company employs based on income and projected income. Nobody is saying pay indefinitely to cover it, people are saying have some sense and give it a few days until the picture becomes clear.

If you’re off work, you get sick pay, but you haven’t provided a service to your employer. If your car broke, you’d still pay your finance, if your roof leaked, you’d still pay your mortgage.

If you can’t see the logic in all of this I’ve nothing further to add.

Its already started. There are over 4,000 temporary redundancies in the airline industry already. If Sky goes, it takes a huge amount of Football League clubs with it, which then closes bars and businesses around the stadiums.

Stock prices have already dropped by billions. There’s a far bigger picture than ‘I’m paying £23 a month here’.

It has to be correctly managed.
