http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/th...-bids-farewell-to-leicester-city-2561759.aspx ... club statement ... makes the point that we have been attempting to get him to stay on for some considerable time ...
... just the same as your bunch of mugs thinking you will finish above us this season ... a mixture of tribalism, patriotism, new season optimism and wishful thinking ....
... pleased to hear it ... in that case consider instead that some of us are optimistic that we might just continue, even kick-on, from where we left off at the end of last season ... THE in form team over the last 7 games with a number of good young players who began to shine last season and may go on to be even better this ... plus we have strengthened our defence (our Achilles heel last season - even though we never lost a game by more than a 2 goal margin) with Robert Huth on a permanent and the acquisition of Christian Fuchs, the Austrian captain and full back (they currently top their Euro qualifying group) ...
I don't believe anyone thinks that's possible, not even you. You won't match that, let alone better it, and it'll be a struggle .... now that your manager and best player have gone I think you're in trouble tbh. I can't see Ranieri lasting the season.
No, just giving an honest opinion without any malice ....... now I've done that I don't see any reason to keep repeating it.
Like I said, the players have improved during last season - specifically Schlupp and Vardy in respect of his finishing. The others will also be more attuned to the pace of the Premier League. The loan signing of Huth and the formation that we stumbled on (3 in the middle of the back) stemmed the flow of silly goals being conceded. That had a positive effect on the confidence of the attacking players who started to play with more conviction and there's no reason why that shouldn't continue. We also finally realised how to feed our leading goal scorer and that should now happen from day one of next season rather than two thirds of the way through. We have signed some quality players - Huth,Fuchs and Okazaki - and there could be more on the way. Kramaric is another quality international who was hardly used last season but might have a bigger role to play this season. There are 3 new teams coming into the league who will struggle, and I think we are also a better equipped squad than Villa, WBA, Sunderland (although you will almost certainly disagree with that one), Newcastle and maybe even Palace. Obviously these are just my opinions, but I don't see any reason why there should be a belief that we will struggle next season, other than the customary and often illogical pessimism that goes with supporting a football team.
As good as he was, and I wish he had stayed on,he is past his very best as a footballer. Off the top of my head I'll throw in - Banks, Shilton, Nish, Cross, Mclintock, Weller, Worthington, Gibson, Sep Smith, Rowley, Lineker, Chandler, Whitworth, Black - as contenders for City's best ever.
You don't think the departure of a world class player with no obvious replacement currently at the club is a blow to our hopes of survival? OK. Genuinely wish I had your optimism! It's not disrespectful to anyone; losing any of our key players - Vardy, Schlupp, Mahrez, Huth - would be a massive blow too. I've never seen a player at our club turn defending into attack so effectively as Cambiasso. I think we'd have gone down without him, and I think we'll go down this coming season if we don't replace him. I understand what Proud is saying about us not necessarily needing a player of his standard - most of our relegation rivals won't have players like him either - but we will need better than we have now. A lot better.
Sunderland and ..... I've no idea, as things stand I'd take a guess at 15th. We finished well, have kept our best players and are signing better than we have.
I couldn't have been more wrong. The man who I thought was your captain signed a new 5 year deal. No idea why I thought he left.
