If everyone does that, who do you think is going to pay for Linekar's £1.35m salary? I suppose you also expect Shearer to take a pay cut from his £455,000 salary, do you? I think it's an utter disgrace how people can be allowed to make these decisions without asking for feedback from the general public when it affects the local community. MOTD is decent but how anyone can justify the pay given to two blokes discussing a football match is beyond me. What makes it all worse is we're paying for it.

Jobs for the boys, too many feeding from the same trough.

The BBC pay is far and away above ITV and the like, Huw Edwards on £400k for reading an Autocue, Danny Dyer the same for playing himself in Eastenders, yet rather than doing a pay revue on the top earners they cut local radio, thereby cutting off many valuable helplines, I don’t like Kofi, who thinks he’s a Radio 1 DJ, Burnsy on the other hand let people ask the most mundane local moan about a council issue for instance, and helped sorted it out.
The BBC still has a lot of influence and local radio got things done, remember the pandemic when they pushed out many many hours of info, phone help numbers, local job vacancies etc.
Bloody shame really.

Then say that.

Referring to him being there “just to tick a box” & making comments like “Irish bint” makes your post both racist & sexist.
So you think he is there on merit? You think if he was a white lad off Orchard Park who spoke like he was reading a school book when trying to relay something on the radio he would be in that role?
It is a fairly widespread opinion that the BBC employ people to try and tick boxes, are you suggesting that is not the case?

As for the Irish woman I didnt know her name at the time and as it is radio how else could I describe a woman with an Irish accent? I've since searched and discovered her name is Fiona! I will now refer to her as Irish Fiona.

If you recall how Kofi was appointed like I do, then he was definitely appointed because he was the diverse candidate to be City of Culture representative for the BBC.

Is Kofi a man of colour off OPE?

Did your “white” lad off OPE read English & Journalism at University?

Did your “white” lad off OPE apply for the same competitions, roles & opportunities as Kofi or did he just moan that he’d have been king of the world without all these educated & qualified people of colour unfairly being allocated all the good jobs, obviously whilst stoking his crack pipe.

It’s the widespread trait of idiots to think that some people that they don’t find entertaining should have their race, gender & sexuality weaponised by suggesting they are merely “filling quotas” rather than, in there opinion, not very good.

Is it not possible to just say “I think he/she is ****”? Others have managed it.

Funny, because its not on the press release? https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2016/kofi-smiles-face-of-hull

It couldn't just be that a black man was the best candidate could it?

Its telling this subject has come up when we're talking about Burnsy. Back to the subject, I think we'll be a poorer region without his show.
