I wonder if he's going to make an Independence Day style presidents speech to the players along the lines of "you don't want me here, this is my last match, but believe me I'm going out fighting so let's kill these Spurs ****s!".

My money is on that not happening and him saying "Spurs are a great team, let's roll our sleeves up and see what we can do".

I expect the usual ****e but he'll suddenly change his opinion on where the club should be and start saying fans deserve the best

From Martin Keown:

“Look at the record of Bruce, there has been a problem for a long time,” Keown said. “Between December and April last season, two wins from 17.

“They did well at the end of the season, five wins from eight – but two were already down. They haven’t won a game this season."

Who needs Einstein and Stephen Hawking when you've got a razor sharp statistician like that?

He might come to the conclusion that Bruce isn't very good soon, who knows...

Newcastle United can confirm that head coach Steve Bruce will take charge of Sunday’s Premier League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur and in doing so reach his 1,000th professional match as a manager.

Amanda Staveley said: "We have had an extremely busy week reviewing the business and getting to know people and it is imperative that we continue to be patient and considered in our approach. Change does not always happen overnight, it demands time and that we follow a carefully considered plan and strategy.

"We met Steve and the players on Monday and have given them the time and space this week to focus on preparing for what is a very important game on Sunday.

"Steve has been very professional in our dealings with him and he and his coaching team will take the team on Sunday. If we make any changes going forward, Steve will be the first to know but, in the meantime, we wish him the best of luck in his 1,000th match as a manager and will be joining you in getting right behind the team.

"Thank you for the warm welcome you have given us. We can’t wait to be at St. James’ Park with you.”

A carefully worded PR press release that basically confirms Bruce's axing is imminent - not saying he's out the door right now, but no mention whatsoever about any future with Bruce. They're just looking for the right manager before axing him.

Because of your experience? Cos it certainly isn't cos of your results record, your popularity with the fans or your ambition.

Unfortunately the new owners have chosen to put me before all the fans and their hysteria.

I told them I'd done better than the great Rafa and told them all the excuses I could come up with.

I'm going to enjoy it.

**** hasn't hit the fan yet, they're just looking for a suitable replacement.

They wouldn't have all this money to fund us then leave Bruce in charge, it would be like spending millions of pounds creating a state of the art children's hospital then getting Jimmy Saville to manage it.

Did you tell them the gloves are coming off? Cos that rallying call to arms worked wonders last time.

I wanted Bruce out but it's actually quite wise imo

They're trying to demonstrate to potential targets that they're fair and not just ruthless ****s.

They're also letting the fans know they care but to know their place.
