Very well said Bo. It was nice to get a 6-0 win over a laughably poor Charlton side but it is hard to see how this offsets the dismal performances against equally weak bottom-dwellers in the Championship this year, and the tactical and team selection errors that threw away key points in the Premiership in the second half of last season and resulted in our eventual relegation. Those represent massive failures of management that has to be laid at Bruces door, and no amount of "comfortable win euphoria" and our position in the table can erase the amnesia over his previous repeated errors in judgement.

Does yesterdays win mean that Bruce has seen the light, that the scales have dropped from his eyes, that the truth has dawned, that he is a NEW MAN??? No more pathetic slow motion build ups in mid-field with Huddlestone et al passing the ball sidewards and backwards while the opposition regroups and blankets our outnumbered lone striker.? No more shutting up shop in the last 20+ minutes to hopefully cling on to fragile leads which failed dismally time after time after an unpressed inferior opposition threw everyone forward to get a share of the points.? No more lone strikers ploughing lonely furrows up front waiting for penetrating through balls or mid-field attacking support that never comes ???? No more Rotherhams, Boltons, Leeds, Prestons, Charlton (away), etc etc.????

Arguably the best squad we have ever assembled has performed far below its potential, notwithstanding its position in the table. Yesterday, despite the poverty of the opposition, we saw some of that potential, a relentless attack, rock solid defense, and a rejuvenated Hernandez taking full advantage of his freedom. The shackles were off. We were playing the kind of football of which we have always been capable....but have seldom showed.

I believe if we can keep Hernandez healthy and add another quality striker we should gain automatic promotion. But is Bruce the man to manage us at the next level??? That, as raised earlier, is really the question that the Allams will have to answer in the coming months.

Couldn't of said it better

My mam used to call me that. What's it mean?
Probably a colloquialism connected to the phrase " a flea in the ear" to subtly chide misbehaving kids or rebuke someone for a minor mistake.
Likely of American origin from 19th century British immigrants.

This forum is so funny, one minute it's, Hayden's ****, we need Meyler, next minute Meyler out Hayden in. Then a few good performances, we have the best squad in the division with the most strength in depth, then it's, we need new everything as we'll never go up!
Reality is we have a decent squad, not a lot of depth in some areas but loads in basically only midfield. Some players go through a bad patch, but when the team does bad then no matter how bad that player has played most recently, they're the answer, reality no, they need a break.
I don't know how SB decides to pick the team but I'm guessing he doesn't just pick players by name, it must be attitude, performance in training & also in matches, although sometimes I do wonder with the latter, obviously no one is going out to try to play badly & SB is trying to pick the right team, so when it goes wrong, it must seem very confusing for everyone not just us!

We were poor last season, we were relegated, the manager thought he had failed, he was right, he offered to resign. Nothing too positive in any of that.

This season it must be a bloody huge coincidence that we seem to improve when the team changes reflect the thoughts of the so-called whingers.

I would like to thank Charlton for flattering us.

Steve Bruce is still behind his own self-imposed target of two points per game. His post away match comments clearly meant nothing to many, he wasn't confused, disappointed, lost for ideas, he must have been on top of his job, full of confidence, oozing ideas, clear in his strategy. Well I'm confused, because he didn't say that, did he?

It's been said, four games that will test the change.

'Winning things' Explanation needed ? I was being ironic. Hull City have won FA, which is why I questioned where some of you get your sky high expectations from.
You say quite proudly 'if we weren't challenging for promotion by Christmas I want Bruce gone' Why FFS ?
How many other City managers have had the club in the top third of the Championship ( before that Division 2) by Christmas ?
You can count them on the fingers of one hand. You'd run out of space trying to list all those who have failed miserably.
We haven't 'given ourselves' an outstanding opportunity at all. Steve Bruce, the owners, yes the owners, the players and everyone at the club have earned the right to be in a spot challenging for an immediate return to the Premier League. We should be 100% behind them, not sniping, whinging and demanding us to win promotion automatically as though we have some god given right because we are Hull City.
There are some far bigger clubs in the Championship then us who would give their right arms to be in our position. Clubs who have bigger fan bases, bigger grounds, therefore bigger potential, and clubs who are seeped in a tradition of winning trophies over many years. We've been in one FA Cup Final ( under Bruce) and enjoyed three seasons on the top flight in our history. FFS Oxford United have won more then us.
Yet we have a section of supporters who have expectations beyond belief based on what ?
I want my club to play at the highest level.
As do fans of every other club in the land.
If some of you put as much effort and passion into supporting the manager and what ever team he puts on the field and had a bit of faith in his judgement, not only would the gates improve at the KC along with the atmosphere, we just might be a club/team to be reckoned with and one who deserves to be at top of the division challenging for promotion to the Premier League.
Which season didn't we enjoy?

Crikey there's some differences of opinion on here and some great comments I've never advocated sack or change the manager hasn't it been regularly stated on here that it's the hardest league to get out of, now it's a prerequisite that Steve Bruce should get us out of it, I've sat next to a lot of know alls at matches that I can only presume have never played due to their bizarre take on the game, we are second in the league we have a descent manager we murdered Middlesbrough who incidentally lost to Bristol City so they will be looking for a new manager now, every team will hit a blip we did let's hope it's over.

Behind Bruce in this division.......just

But not if we go up.

We play like headless chickens away from home ...

The good thing about getting a bit of a good run going (4 wins in January) and second is at least we might be able to keep the players we want and attract who Bruce wants.

So very true Peter.

Also 3 years ago we only took 1 point in January.

IMO, the PNE defeat has woken them all up.

So glad SB acknowledged to Burnsy (post game interview) that he rested Meyler and Elmo as they have run a million miles for him. Freshened it up with fresh legs.

You're blaming Akpom for the losses at Leeds and Rotherham?

He played less than 20 minutes against Leeds and Hernandez played against Rotherham. <doh>

YES I AM FFS. The fact you don't beggers belief <doh> btw, Akpom started and played the full game @ Rotherham.<doh> Akpom missed so many clear cut chances.<ok>

I don't care how many minutes he played. Akpom missed sitters in both games. FACT.

I really don't rate Akpom, but blaming him for us losing a game he played 19 minutes in is ridiculous.

Why ? He missed chances any player at any level should score with. Hence why I blame Akpom as he missed them. That header @ Leeds ffs. He could not even hit the target from 6 yards. Don't even bother about the Rotherham game. Those misses were equally shocking.
