Change is part of football, if we don't go up then people will look back and say we should have changed things while we had a chance, I'm not going to sit on the fence anymore and reckon our best bet to go up is to change the manager now. It won't happen for the reasons you mentioned.

Its a shame really as I respect what he's done for us, but it could be some of the senior players are wise to Bruce, or simply overfamiliar with him and his methods. He seems to have a shelf life at clubs which might have gone past its sell-by date for us

Not many people manage to keep it going at the same place for a long time, players and managers alike go stale. Things always have to be kept fresh.

Bruce never really got it going, we hd a short spell of a month or two in our promotion season before we went all dour and overly negative. His hoofball only just got us out of this (at the time extremely weak) division with what I believe was a record low points total for automatic promotion?

After that, Bruce just wasn't up to task. When you look at the teams similar in size and stature to ourselves who have done well in the PL, they've all done it by attacking teams, which is anathema to Steve Bruce.

Thankfully the bruce in brigade seems to be an ever shrinking minority these days, so fingers crossed hopefully his clock is ticking and we don't have to put up with him much longer.

What a stupid pointless thread this is. How many posters on here can remember this club being in this position for so long, in this league at this time of the year, in their lifetimes?
I'll tell you how many. None.
In our 111 year history, we maybe were close in 1930 so anyone who witnessed it must be touching 95 now.
Don't think we have many 95 year old posters.
This constant sniping at the manager is ridiculous.
FFS we are four points off the top spot.

Weren't we better off at this stage three years ago?

Pettiness aside, the past really doesn't mean anything here and now. By the same rationale the likes of Leeds should be at the top.

The last two years spring to mind.

Typical, some fans get disgruntled with the manager and somebody pops up with the "remember how **** we were" bollocks. History is history, it doesn't help us one jote right now. There's only one bloke who's culpable for the success of the team and that's the manager and if what he's doing isn't working, then people are going to be pissed off. Other teams are far more ruthless with their managers and it works, our fans seem to have this daft air of sentimentality that makes our manager look a lot better than he actually is. Look at our team, look at the quality across that squad and then ask yourself why they aren't playing like they should be doing. Are the players going out onto the field and ignoring their boss, or are they being told the wrong thing?

It's funny, when players aren't doing well it's "Huddlestone's ****" or "Akpom can't score for toffee", but when a Hull City manager makes mistakes it's "oh remember the FA Cup final and the promotion, leave him alone".

If we aren't looking like strong contenders for automatic promotion in a few weeks time, Brucey should be gone, simple as. He's got a quality squad at his disposal, we should be playing miles better than we are at the moment. We saw our best against Boro, so how hard should it be to maintain that sort of quality? Because the likes of Brighton and Burnley are managing it with far worse squads than we have.

'Two years ago' ? This time last year we were in the Premier League which isn't the Championship and the year before we were not in the top four from August until the second week in December ( and seven or is it more points now) in front of the other clubs scrapping to be in the Play Off places, which is my point. None of you have ever witnessed it before, at this level, for this length of time, no matter who was manager and so on.
'We should be playing ,miles better' ???? So your not only not content with our current position you want us to be playing like Real Madrid as well ?
I couldn't care less if we scrapped a 1-0 every home game and drew every away game 0-0 if it meant we got promoted.
Because as a Hull City supporter for a long, long time, and one who didn't throw the towel in when we were abysmal, as many thousands did, I know that this club has no devine right to be at the top of any league. We are not a Leeds United and we are not even a Sheffield Wednesday, we are a medium size club who up to ten years ago had won nothing. We have no fabulous tradition and we have no massive fanbase. Like it or not our supporters ditched this club when we were on the slide in massive numbers, and sometimes the public get the football club (and owners) they deserve.
If Hull City had never reached the PL under Brown and Duffen who both got lambasted on fans forums for doing so, despite no other manager/owners/chairman in 0ver 100 years ever managing to do it, we would have never attracted a manager like Steve Bruce.
Gary Megson maybe? Brian Laws? that moaning twat at Scunthorpe and so on, lower league managers who themselves had never won anything as managers.
Because that was our level. It doesn't matter what a couple of hundred people posting on a fans forum think, those were the facts.
As much as I don't agree with a lot of things currently happening at the club, I don't see many people banging on the chairmans door with offers they cannot refuse.
Someone has to guarantee the pay cheques, and I'm glad it's not me, because one glance at these boards would put you off for life.
Also to take for granted three recent Wembley appearances and two visits to the Premier League shows how shallow some people are. It was a minor miracle, make no mistake about that. Steve Bruce could hand his notice in this afternoon and retire to his villa in Portugal earn a good living out of being a football pundit with no pressure on him what so ever.
Be careful what you wish for.

You're right, having to spend more time listening to him prattle on the telly would be torture.

Hopefully someone like Yeovil might take a punt on him.

I would suggest some fans are losing faith because of the highly expensive ticket prices compared to value for money , I don't want to go every week and think how poor was that , the fact is you could count on one hand how many times we have played well this season

Oh so you think we have some divine right to be playing well every now and then?

One player in our squad alone only cost roughly 10x more than most other clubs entire squad ffs. Give your head a bang, we were **** 20 years ago.

Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday should rightfully be taking this division by a storm so we should just be thankful we're in the reckoning.

'Don't moan about us playing badly, because we used to be much worse', is a really weak argument.

I will continue going no matter what, city are in my blood there's nothing I can do about that, but it does make the 130 mile round trip at times seem twice as long at time's, my concern's with SB at the moment is why are we playing with one striker at home against the bottom of the table, why does it take SB so long to change thing's, when all around can see its not going to plan and why does he need a board meeting in the dug out lasting up to 10 minutes before putting a sub on, as a football club we do seam to be going backwards on the field, I know its only approaching halfway in a long season, but we need to upping our game, the way things are panning out its going to be Brighton and one other for automatic promotion and on the form of the last few games it might not be city.

Bruce has one objective this season - to get us promoted and he is well on track for that so any talk of replacing him is just hot air. He has the opportunity in January to get rid of some of the non performers - Diame, Huddlestone and Aluko spring to mind - and to bring in some fresh blood if the finances permit. He could have gone at the end of last season when he failed to keep us up, but I, for one, am delighted that the owners kept faith with him and that he is repaying that faith by keeping us well up in the promotion race. To talk of being able to "run away" with the Championship is fanciful at best - this is the hardest league to get promoted from & at least we have a manager who has been there before & succeeded.

Having narrowly been relegated from the Premier League with a squad valued at around £60m, can you think of any teams in the Championship that should be finishing above us?

Nobody is asking for Real Madrid style football and that's a cop out response, what we want is the same application we saw against Boro every week. We've proved we can do it, so why aren't we?
