This does seem a real problem in some departments for sure. Health is one which seems odd. Barclay doesnt have any health background as far as I know. He was a solicitor I think. His opposite number Streeting has only seen the inner workings of higher education. In fact Streeting has some notable experiences in that world, so you would think dept of skills and higher ed would be a good fit. Who knows how politicians get their portfolio, but with exceptions like defence it can seem a bit like they do it by tombola.
cheers fella, i honestly though that something as important as this (whichever way it went) would have been meticulously planned from the word go...i very much doubt any minister wanted to leave as the 'euro jobs' many got kept them in the gravy.
similar to smug here, all i want is for the best outcome for the people.

A very honest response mate, basically saying it how you see it. You've already stated that you wanted us to stay however now we have left you really how it turns out for the best but at ths moment there's not much evidence to support that, meanwhile there are people that voted remain that are desperate for the country to suffer just to prove they are right and there a leave voters that no matter what goes wrong will not admit brexit hasn't had any affect.Spot on mate, that's about it for me.
All I'm doing, with this thread, is posting anything I see as a defecit of Brexit ...

Some would rather we didn't mention Brexit at all, which is why I'm taken it off the Boris thread.
I assume they're the ones who really wanted to leave but can't find much to boast about. I hope Brexit turns out to be wonderful, I'm not stupid enough to wish otherwise and hurt myself, but I'm still totally convinced it was a huge mistake.

My, perhaps naive, hope is that our government, whichever party, will do it's best to look after us all.
I therefore feel justified in criticisng them if they don't.
And I hope that we look back on Brexit as a wonderful turning point when Britain became truly great again.
That is all anyone wants I think. I vote for my kids futures largely these days, and those that need my help. I am likely ok for as long as I have left. Tax me more if they want, I would not begrudge paying a fair chunk more, I want to give the next generation a fighting chance because as it stands I thinky generation has put them in a bind. Whether we have politicians who think that way I am not convinced. Get the best of all parties together, with the best of business and social thinkers, maybe then. But whilst we have the political argument we have now it will be a long road for those that follow me, I fear.

Let's be honest.... The vast majority voted for "brexit" to bring down immigration. So they are now talking about allowing immigration to fill job vacancies. What next? Becoming part of the trading zone again to sell the extra products these people make? Still, we have that £350 million being pumped into the NHS on a weekly basis and the 40 brand spanking new hospitals because of it so it wasn't a complete waste of time
An interesting poll this week shows 41% of those surveyed believed Labour would take us back into the EU, despite their current stance on no second referendum.
That view might be down to Starmer being partial to an about turn on his policies / commitments / pledges or whatever the phrase is these days in the media. Or it might be hope on behalf of those polled. Or it might be based on genuine insight. Whatever, I would love it if he changed his direction on it. Being back in the EU would suit me down to the ground, and I dare say free up politicians to focus on our homegrown challenges.
Imagine the incessant moaning if a democratic vote took us back into the EU ...

I can see us returning and the worse the situation becomes the quicker it will happen imo.
I have little doubt it will happen. Whether it is in the next 5 or so years I doubt, but I think the more the current younger generation are allowed to vote, the greater the pressure will be to go back in.
Young people have been robbed of many opportunities because they now have an extra additional obstacle. We receive regular emails from agencies like Morgan & Mallet with job listings. I just looked at the last one, for this response, and there's a job in Eze which is fabulous, on the Riviera near Monaco.
It's for a Nanny, pays around €3000 per month net, lovely accommodation, all expenses paid, etc.
But you have to be legally entitled to work in France which you're not unless you apply and go through the paperwork, etc. It's not impossible but it's not like when we were in the EU and you were automatically entitled.
As you say it's young people who'll wonder why we turned our backs on Europe especially when it's so close.

For anyone who thinks it's just music, and not worth worrying about, it creates four times the income, for the country, and employs many more people than the fishing industry ...

Incredibly good read, but what else would you expect from Fish.
The bureaucracy involved is absolutely immense.
Having lived in France for over a decade I can admit they're incredibly protectionist. They'll be loving this and will make things as difficult as possible ...

Exactly, and there are similar articles about all kinds of industries, artists, enterprises who are suffering from Brexit and will continue to suffer.
Day by day the realisation grows.

Having to provide details of the purpose of your visit, accomodation, return travel, etc, will mean you can no longer jump in your car, drive to the south of France and stop at a hotel along the way when you tire.
You'll have to book in advance and have everything in place before you even think about leaving ...

Beautiful around there mate, spent a lot of time there and eze is a lovely town, not far from where princess grace died in the mountains. We used to go to the perfume factories there’s 2 or 3 of them in the town and of course the weather is always great
