not sure mate but I’m sure they have qualified for CL footy once, I could be wrong
It was 2005 @FosseFilberto

The year after we sold Rooney, the best player we’d produced in a generation, and for most of the season our main striker was Marcus Bent lol.

Moyes was **** hot in them days tbf like.

The fit and proper persons thing is nowhere near fit for purpose imo. They need to do proper due diligence on these people and should make a rule that bans funding purchases of clubs with leveraged debt.

For example, the Hong Kong gambler who ended up with Wigan ffs, and lumped them with a completely unsustainable debt and legged it.

That’s pretty much what happened with us. The two clowns who bought us, spent what little money we had on range rovers and luxury waterfront flats. If they hadn’t of fallen out over who could spend the most, I doubt whether Charlton would exist today.

Why oh why are you even interested in Champions league football formats and the such like?

surely the Championship play offs format is what you should be educating yourself on?

Because I have an interest in the sport and a hope that one day we can perhaps get a European spot again.

... and I wonder who before that? ... either way it shows just how dominant the 6 have been ... like going to a birthday party where the mega birthday cake is always shared amongst a select few whilst the poorer kids are only given a bite size bun <laugh>

Well us in 96, 97, 02 and 03. Pretty sure there have been others, didn't Ipswich make it one year?

Blackburn obviously. Leeds a few times. Norwich - though may have been before 2nd place got in.

In fairness that was before Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City were big clubs so we weren't competing with so many goliaths of the game.

Didn't you have to qualify because we won it?

Sorry mate, hadn't realised, pages move on so quick and I'm lazy at reading back sometimes.

No worries, only jesting. My comments all the way through have been to highlight the hypocrisy. As soon as there was potential to affect the PL and the cash it provides, we all had to come together to stop it. Dover is just one of hundreds of examples where the reality is somewhat different. Football solidarity my arse...!

Im sure we came 5th but won the cl and because of that Everton had to qualify?

It may have affected how many qualification rounds they had to go through but they'd have had to qualify either way.

Yeh but we made it that much harder for them by winning right?

Haslam desperate not to agree that Liverpool fuked over the [HASHTAG]#peasants[/HASHTAG] that year<laugh>

@Peej to confirm with a gif

Let’s hope Brucey can help you reach dreamland one day fam

I think we've got worse years to come tbh, but I'm kinda used to it now.

I actually think fighting for survival is far more exciting than mid table. Maybe not so much at first because until maybe Jan /Feb you think you're in with a chance of top 8, but once that goes it's a boring second half of the season if you're mid table.. Down the bottom it's intense as ****.
