Is it just me or is $5bn not that much split between 20 teams on merit?

Arsenal in 20th would probably end up earning less than they do now.

Unless $5bn is just one pot of many.

$5bn is the reported figure to just get it started and set up.

So far, the 12 reported teams are the 'founding clubs'. They want to add more, possibly bringing it to 16 clubs but the German and French clubs invited have already told them to **** off.

The one voice that could put an end to it all is the media voice, if the likes of Sky and BT come out and said nobody wants your product without fans, it’d drop dead on the spot. The media will slurp this up like a Hull Slapper on a nightclub dregs run.

The Clubs involved so far are:

England: Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham
Italy: Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan
Spain: Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid

German clubs will never get involved because German League rules state that Corporations can only own a 49% share of a club, 51% is own by fan associations, who will almost certainly veto any attempt to pull German clubs in to this mess.

Macron, the French president, has threatened to rain a **** storm down on PSG if they try get involved too, and it looks like they have been cowed.

I shut that thread as it descended into something else, and you know this. This is the second time you’ve tried to goad me with this. Kindly **** off and enjoy your Cup SF win.

    Thanks in advance.

PSG are saying no because they’re on the cusp of possibly/probably their biggest ever achievement and don’t want UEFA on their arse. They’ll be all over it after the CL finishes.

They’ll probably have guest invites as well, like bonus triple storm rounds where Cricket meets Football, and HHH vs Neymar headlines Wrestlemania 52.

I agree with that, the relegation places only thing of interest, be a bit like Pointless.

I agree that PSG aren't declining out of principle. They've got a cushy relationship with UEFA so they're toeing their line on it. Another poster mentioned Macron threatening PSG if they got involved as well.

IF this goes ahead and IF FIFA follow through with banning any player who plays in the league from any other competition then who is going to want to play? It isn't just fans these owners don't give a **** about, but the players too. How many players make an entire career out of playing for just these 12 clubs? Not many Ryan Giggs or Frank Lampards about. Most are lucky to have a 2 or 3 year spell at the very top. What happens to them when they are thrown to one side and then can't move back down to a 'normal' football team?

9:30pm was the expected announcement time. Looks like they've bottled it for now.

Wouldn't be surprised if a couple of Russian teams were invited.

They’ll have to do something to keep everyone interested after a little while. 10 minute powerplay 5 aside mode with rush keepers

Like that useless **** would do anything. Boris has already chirped up with a weak ‘let’s talk’ suggestion. Pockets will get lined for mouths to stay shut.

Players and managers need to reject it. I’d love Ole and put up with his ****ty tactics for the rest of my life if he said he would leave if United joined a ESL. Same for any player.

I think it’s safe to say that the Sherman’s who’ve driven this and the 3 clubs who’ve appear to have decided to drop this bomb today, might have somewhat underestimated the strength of opinion against it.

And that’s another thing I don’t get, because the idea was floated a year ago or so, and it whipped up a frenzy, there was no support for it then and the same now.

Astro aside obvs. He’d suck the froth out of a Glazer fart pipe if he could add a couple more numbers to his spreadsheet.

The owners should still be investigated. It's no good saying 'phew, looks like they're not going through with it'. Glazers, Kroenke, FSG, Abramovich, Mubarak, Perez etc. should not be allowed to own professional football clubs ever again.

51% stake should be transferred to supporters' trusts asap with zero compensation to the current owners.
