Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been stripped of his WBO title after non payment of a $200,000 sanctioning fees for the bout against Manny Pacquiao. Pac lost the belt he won when he beat Tim Bradley last April. It seems that after the Pac fight, Mayweather declared that he'd give up all his titles, allowing others to fight for them, but as of now, he's done no such thing. WBO President has tweeted that once Mayweather's 14 day appeal time comes to an end, Tim Bradley will become the official WBO Welterweight Titleholder.
 
Mancunian Terry Flanagan last night won the WBO Lightweight title by second round technical knock out when his opponent the very dangerous, big punching and previously unbeaten Jose Zepedo dislocated his shoulder and the fight had to be called off. I'm sure it's not the way Flanagan would have wanted to win a world title but I'm sure he'll take his place in history as the first Englishman to win a full world title at lightweight. He can now look forward to some big domestic fights now in what is one of our most competitive divisions with the like of Derry Matthews, Tommy Coyle, Luke Campbell, Kevin Mitchell and Anthony Crolla (who fights for the WBA title next Saturday and is also a Manc).
 
Another big fight went off in the Philippines last night where long serving champion Donnie Nietes put his WBO Light Flyweight Title on the line against the Mexican, mandatory challenger, former Mini-Flyweight Champion, Francisco Rodriguez. Nietes as the longest reigning world champion in Philippine history carries a huge reputation in his home country, and while not all that pretty in the ring, he always gets the job done. He's not one for dodging fights either. Rodriguez went into the bout with the fight of the year for 2014 to his credit.

Not sure how I missed this but apparently Fury is fighting Wladimir Klit....the questions will be answered there. Be nice if he can get Wladimir engaged into a dust up, least Fury won't be inconvenienced by Wlads long jabbing arms which he uses to great effect against smaller men.

I really can't wait for Wlad to shut him up once and for all!
 
Wlad should win badger yep, no doubt a points verdict... How exciting for the division some would say! I'd like Fury to at least prove he's half the fighter he thinks he is, if he gets beaten easily I'd expect him to slink off into panto or suchlike lol

I never really rated Fury as a boxer I always just thought he used his size advantage to over power fighters but in his last two fights against Hammer and Chisora he showed some boxing ability. I'm expecting him to give Wlad a fight and might even give him some trouble but Klitschko is far too good and experienced and he'll either take advantage of Fury's weak chin and get a late stoppage or get a unanimous decision.
 
There comes a time when most champs are belted into oblivion. I'm not saying that Vlad's time is at hand, but it can't be too far off. He's 39. I've had a look at some Fury fights and find them entertaining. Not only does he talk the talk, so far he's walked the walk. Against Klitschko though, he's going to have to take some ****ing large strides if he's to come out on top. He has a face that chews up large chunks of leather during a fight, something Vlad and the lads will surely have noted. He's not a hard man to hit with a right hand, so I worry about whether his chin can take a dozen rounds.

That said, it could be a bomb of a fight. I hope so. I have no doubt it develop into one hell of an ugly fight. Fury is a spoiler. He'll out reach Klitchko, he'll have probably a stone on him as well, and if past history is anything to go by, being a taller man, he lean all over Vlad. They'll probably spend so much time with arms wrapped around one another, I wouldn't be at all surprised if from time to time, they broke into a slow waltz. Fury also has the massive advantage in age, 26 against 39. I could be wrong here, but Fury might just have a slight edge in hand speed....maybe. One advantage he does have though, is ring speed. And finally, if anyone can use his gob to advantage in the ring, it's Fury. :)
 
I didn't realise Fury had such a weak chin. That makes him extremely vulnerable as one good hit could finish it. Until that happens I expect Fury to run the show. If it wasn't for the risk of a one punch finish I would have been happy to back Fury for this one. I expect the odds for Klit to ko Fury will be tight so couldn't even have that as a saver. No bet fight then.

Fury has no chance. He's a street fighter with very little technical ability. He will get picked off too easy and he will get knocked out should Klitschko force the issue. That's just my view if course.

Not in defence of Fury (as you say he could very quickly have his lights put out) but Klit seems very uncomfortable when he is put under pressure; not that that happens too often. Maybe he has a weak chin. Has anyone ever tested it?
 
Could be down to who gets one in first then. If Fury gets in first he'll be all over Klit to finish it. Not sure the same will be true if Klit gets in first; he'll probably try to be more clinical. The way I see it, they will either both be scared of catching a belter and be very cagey, or it won't last long.

Not very interested, but I believe Marciano was a street fighter, of sorts?
