Ok, so heaps of good people don't like Fury's incessant babbling. His press conference with Klitschko was pretty embarrassing stuff, and his body language looked a bit off to me, but the interview following the public relations stuff, was a bit of an eye opener. Like or loathe him, he's clearly thought this thing out. He said in another interview after the press thing, that he's afraid that Klitschko could "injure" himself in the lead up to the bout, causing it to be delayed.

I can't see Klitschko having anything to fear from Fury of he's watched any of his fights. The only thing that might give him pause for thought would be Fury's size as Wlad is used to been the big man in the ring, might just mean a slight change in tactics as he wont be able to bully Fury with his size.

Staying with heavyweights how ridiculous is it that the WBC have Anthony Joshua ranked number two! I really don't see how they decide the rankings sometimes. Has much as we're all getting excited by AJ's potential he hasn't even fought anyone in WBC's top 50 so how can he be at number two
 
As expected Kovalev made short work of Mohemmedi. The latter looked as though he didn't want to be there. Can't blame him I suppose. Talk now is of Kovalev maybe taking on IBF 2 ranked Artur Beterbiev in Russia on Nov 28.

Got fed up after 2 rounds Cyc. But then watched the rest as there wasn't long to go. Pathetic excuse of a fight. Reminded me of a schoolboy fight in the playground where the bully, against a wimp, was exposed as someone not to be afraid of. Who else is in that division?
 
There is another champ called Adonis Stevenson, he owns the WBC belt. But they are contracted to different companies, so it'll be hard to get them together. There is also talk of Stevenson fighting the WBC Super Middleweight champ Badou Jack. If he can roll Stevenson, then maybe a clash with Kovalev can happen. Ward, another Super Middleweight champ is a chance of a fight, but it would have to be at catch weights, something Kovalev won't have a bar of.

Juergen Braehmer (regular WBA) and Adonis Stephenson are the other champions in the division. As mentioned by Cyc above Artur Beterbiev is the next big thing in the division and looks very very useful and there's talk of him being next for Kovalev. Kovalev has also been in talks to fight Andre Ward, current super middleweight king and one of the best fighters on the planet. Personally I hope this gets made and doesn't get wrapped up in boxing politics. Ward wins it for me but will make a very interesting fight.

I don't think it would be at a catch weight Cyc, Ward has been talking about moving up to that division for a while now there's nothing left at super middle weight. With regards to Stephenson fighting Badou Jack I don't know if that will get made. Jack has a mandatory defence against George Groves in either August or September and I think Groves will win that one.

It's been announced today that Middleweight superstar and knockout specialist Gennardy Golovkin will fight Fellow middleweight champion David Lemieux at Madison. This has the potential to be a very explosive encounter with Golovkin having won all 33 of his fights with 30 by ko and Lemieux having won 34 of his 36 fights with 31 by ko. Lemieux looked like a superstar in the making a few years ago before suffering back to back defeats. He has since comeback and rebuilt his career winning a world title and will, by far, prove to be Golovkins biggest test to date

Mayweather has been getting a bit of stick over his choice of opponent but I think he's earned the right to pick and easier fight if he wants. He's saying this is his last fight but i'm not sure he'll walk away I can see him having at least one more possible around May time next year

You'd have to favour Golovkin, he's the unbeaten fighter and looks very special. However he can be quite easy to hit but so far hasn't really fought anyone with the power to cause him problems and Lemieux could be that guy so makes for an interesting fight.

If I was to put money on it I would go with Golovkin by late stoppage or maybe it might be first time Golovkin does 12 rounds and gets the points decision. If the best Lemieux turns up it definitely won't be an easy night for Golovkin and we could really see what's he's made of
 
There are no real powder puff punchers at world level. He will walk through Lemieux just as he has with everyone else. GGG has the ultimate granite chin, he doesn't care who hits him as all it does is spare him on.

I don't quite know where you get that he has the ultimate granite chin from? I'm not saying he hasn't but he hasn't exactly been tested yet or really fought many top fighters (Murray and Geale arguably). I expect Golovkin to win as I believe he is something very special I just think it could make an interesting fight as Lemieux has the class and the power. After this Golovkin needs the superfights (Canelo, Cotto) he needs to move up at some point and Lemieux is the first step towards that.

That I can find Ron, Vitali Klitschko had 16 title fights, winning 15, Vlad has had about 28 title fights and lost only 2 that I can see. Between them, 44 title wins for just the 3 losses. Vitali has been a wonderful champion, maybe even a great, Vlad must be considered the real deal. Surely he is one of the great champions.

Golovkin v Lemieux on October 17, the winner to be the mandatory challenger to the victor of the Cotto v Alvarez fight in November. Golovkin has had no end of trouble getting people into the ring, until Lemieux stepped up. If either Cotto or Alvarez then back out, they risk looking as weak as piss. Interesting times ahead.

Can't agree Cyc. They looked pathetic under attack and have carefully picked opponents from a bunch of average fighters at best. We just need someone who is half decent, big enough, can punch and be aggressive and Klitschko will be found out, again. Time will tell. I can't see men running and crumbling like that as Great Champions.
