The Gennady Golovkin - Saul Alvarez mega fight is only days away now, and the atmosphere is really beginning to heat up. In a lot of these events,the angst is fake, it's done to sell tickets, but not this time around. The bitterness between the two camps has been unmistakable. And of course Canalo's failure to piss clean on two occasions has added further fuel to the fire. And the dubious score cards from the first bout where Adelaide Byrd scored the fight 10 rounds to 2 for Canelo, while another had it drawn and the third had it by 2 rounds to GGG, making for a drawn fight, make this a must see event. Compubox scored it 10 rounds to 2 for GGG.

Golovkin commenting on Canelo's two failed tests: “Again with Mexican meat? Come on. I told you, it’s not Mexican meat. This is Canelo. This is his team. This is his promotion. … Canelo is cheating. They’re using these drugs, and everybody is just trying to pretend it’s not happening.

Canelo in response: “The little respect I had for [Golovkin] was lost. He crossed the line with so much of what they said, so much crying that they brought into this… This will help me get everything out in the fight. What I want is to show him that words always come out in excess.

Canelo in reply to GGG's trainer Abel Sanchez' claim that a juiced Canelo ran in the first fight: “Comments from Sanchez don’t really bother me because he actually thinks he’s a great trainer but he doesn’t know what boxing is. He doesn’t know what it is to have technique. He doesn’t know what it is to box or to move. He doesn’t know what it means to adapt to circumstances of a fight and not just go forward and throw punches. What I do is box. I find it strange that someone who believes himself to be a great trainer does not know how to distinguish between having technique and what he’s saying [about running].

“It’s one thing to be coming forward like a donkey and it’s another thing to be moving, dodging punches, counter punching and even staying on the ropes without him hitting you. I hope [Sanchez] goes back to his house and realizes what I’ve been saying about him – that’s he’s a dumbass [pendejo]. The first fight has given me confidence that I will win this fight. If I work him well throughout the fight, I can knock him out."

GGG for me in this one. I don't think he'll leave it up to the judges and will stop Canelo around the 9th
 
I’d like Golovkin to KO Canelo given the failed drugs tests. However, age worries me a little and any drop in punch resistance could swap this fight on its head.

If it goes to the cards this time, barring a Canelo washout (highly unlikely), Golovkin will surely get the nod if it’s close?
 
I don't know why, but I just can't warm to Canelo, maybe it has a bit to do with the way Golden Boy goes about it's business. Catch weight bouts all over the place and the fact that they've always said that their fighter is the A side so should get the biggest cut of the purse. They tried to screw GGG, the holder of the three belts when it came to sharing the revenue. I think they went to something like 42.5% which the GGG camp balked at. In the end the GGG team agreed to the fight after a third party added enough to raise the figure to the equivalent of 45%. Another thing that irks me is the way the marquee banner has the holder of the belts as the second name. It's an insult to the WBA, WBC & IBO Champion who's out there to defend his titles.

I tend to agree with the more strident critics when it comes to the outcome of the first fight, in that Canelo was gifted a draw. But I fear that this time around the result might be the one I don't want. I'd love to see GGG give Canelo a flogging but I don't think it will happen. Like the bookies, I still think Golovkin has the slight edge, but I fear that he may be battling both father time and Canelo come fight night. He fought his heart out a year ago and at times didn't look that good, but in the end his heart and the pressure he applied to Alvarez got him over the line. I'm scared that he may have peaked in that fight and that we may never see him at his brilliant best again. Two or three years ago, I believe he'd have torn Canelo apart, but now I only see a pitched battle between a wily veteran and a hungry, angry, young buck. Golovkin can still win this and cover himself in glory, but I don't believe it'll be a clinical master piece, but a savage engagement where he can ultimately get the job done, but at a great cost to himself. God I hope he can do it.

Watch out for a young bloke called Jaimie Munguia. ( WBO Super Welterweight Champion and on the same bill. ) He's still a bit on the crude side, but has great power and a bright future.

No here's an interesting kid. He seems to have Mexican genes but is a fair skinned as **** and has red hair. His name is Breenan Macias but better know as B-Fly. He's a Flyweight who at one time was ranked number 2 in the USA as an amateur. He's a bright kid who trains at the gym of the former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Robert Garcia, now trainer of his brother and 4 weight Champion Mikey Garcia. B-Fly rolled up one day at Robert's gym and got to talking. He instantly found himself among friends. Although they constantly take the piss, you can tell that they are fond of him. He's saving himself for marriage <laugh>

I like Robert Garcia, I've been watching his interviews for ages. Here's an insight into the gloves fiasco in the first Mayweather - Marcos Maidana fight in May of 2014. Mayweather's purse stood at $32,000,000 while Maidana received $1,500,000. (As the video shows, Maidana ended up with double that thanks to Garcia.)

- respect to Bellew for taking this but this is a step too far. It’s never good coming down in weight and this guy is a machine. Hope he comes out of this healthy to enjoy the money he’s made.

Usyk has signed a multi fight deal with Matchroom and plans to step up to heavyweight immediately after this fight.

So once gain Floyd Mayweather announces he is to come out of retirement. This time for a rematch nobody wants to see against Manny Pacqioua. And the reason as always money. I love to see Mayweather fight the man is a master but he needs just walk away with men are way way past their peak

GGG v Canelo was an absolutely amazing fight- if you missed it catch a replay in the morning.

The classless Floyd Mayweather once again trying to steal the headlines with some BS comeback on the eve of a proper fight <doh>
 
Harsh on GGG yet again. To think over the two fights he’s only ‘won’ on one card out of six judges! That absolutely stinks. Rotten to the core, makes racing look straight.
 
I've just watched the fight again and thought Golovkin won it by 2 rounds. Some of the rounds were desperately close but I think GGG dictated most of the fight from the back foot, used his jab to better effect and landed his counter punches more frequently. I've seen much more controversial results but still think GGG has the right to feel pretty pissed off especially given how the last fight ended. Bring on the trilogy

I actually thought this fight had draw written all over it.

Canelo was the aggressor this time and that majorly helped his case.

But GGG will be pissed I’m sure, especially over two fights. Amazed he didn’t get the nod on the cards.
