Here's an interesting bit of news. In an effort to force Anthony Joshua's hand, the WBO has taken steps that give Oleksandr Usyk a potential leg up in the heavyweight scene in the not too distant future. Because Usyk now holds all of the Cruiserweight belts, the WBO has promoted him to Super Champion. So what has this to do with Anthony Joshua? Well according to a WBO representative, Usyk's team now only have to ask for a mandatory against the heavyweight champion, and the request will be granted. Of course there's every chance that Usyk will pass on the opportunity for the time being as he's still on the small side compared to Joshua. And then there's the possible cruiserweight clash with Tony Bellew at the end of the year to think about as well. That would be a massive pay day for him too. In the past hen speaking of his future in the game, Usyk has made no secret of his desire to compete at heavyweight. His team think he'd look good at around 225-230. It's still a lot of weight to give away against a man the size of Joshua, but when it's realised that Wilder does his business at around 215, maybe Usyk at 230 isn't so bad after all. To get to that weight, he'll probably need a year or two I suppose. Don't ya just love the politics of sport?
Wilder in relation to a possible fight with Breazeale: "I'm gonna make sure he bring his son up on the stage to look the man in the eye that's gonna cripple his daddy." ****ing space cadet.
The scariest guy in boxing! The man that nobodg wants to fight. A explempary amateur career. And who is now laying waste to the entire light heavyweight division.
I'm a huge Fury fan Ron, but it amazes the hell out of me that he's the favourite. In an Oz site they have Wilder at $1.82 and Fury at $1.91. I suppose the betting will be allover the place.
Tyson Fury continues to impress with his work ethic in his come back. His weight for tomorrow's fight against Pianeta is 18 pounds below his first fight back. He looked in fine shape as he stood at 258 pounds on the scales. And guess who showed up for the weigh in? All pretend me thinks.
Wtf. Deontay Wilder and his folk are sitting eating when Tyson Fury's mate Billy Joe Saunders, WBO Middleweight World Champion, enters the food house. Wilder's people are all friendly until Saunders reaches Wilder, then the **** hits the fan. "What this comment I hear you say bro?" asks Wilder. Saunders: "What one?" Wilder: "The one where you called me a racist ****." Saunders: "Yeah, I did yeah." Then it's on. The guy shooting the pictures then, for the most part, comes on all shy and points the camera at the ground. Toward the end of the film, Saunders can be seen bolting from the scene as if the hound's of hell are on his heels.
Wilder will knock him out without breaking a sweat. Tyson Fury is a terrible boxer massive upset victory to win his titles against Klitschko but surely he'll go down in history as one of the worst heavyweight champions there has ever been. Joshua isn't much better either. Terrible era for heavyweights. Wilder offers some hope but we've yet to see him in a defining fight and his record is very much padded out with **** fighters. He showed a bit more in his last fight against Ortiz but again I'm not sure how good Ortiz actually is. Young Daniel Dubois looks a talent but has only fought taxi drivers to this point and as he's with Frank Warren I won't hold my breath for his career to take off. Not keen on the smug **** Hearn but at least he gets his fighters decent fights and paydays.
Really hope Frampton can impress here. Quality fighter. I don't know if it's bad management or politics or a bit of both but such a shame he hasn't had another crack at world honours yet and this interim title crap doesn't count. Would have loved to have seen the trilogy with Santa Cruz
