In June 1998, WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Dennis Andres, The Hackney Rock, climbed into the rig to do battle with the man with the iron chin, Australia's Hitman, Jeff Harding. Round after round, these two smashed each other with bombs. Neither had much in the way of a defence, but they were great at taking massive hits to the face and body. A wonderful fight.

I didn't know that these two had sparred heaps of founds together. If so, they must have some idea of their pecking order. On watching the clip, I can't help but feel after watching their body language, that Eubank might have had the edge when they met in the ring. To me, it's almost as though Eubank knows he has the wood on Groves.

I haven't seen much of Eubank Jnr Cyc so don't know if he can take a punch. Thinking back to the Groves v Froch fight, Groves had Froch on the floor and Froch could take a punch. Groves took a few of Froch's too before he eventually fell. So the questions for me are:
Can Eubank hit harder than Froch
Can Eubank take a punch as well as Froch
Until proven he can on both counts I think I would have to side with Groves, especially at the odds. I would be looking for the odds to drift for a Groves by ko and go for that. At present the odds on either fighter are not attractive enough for me
 
You raise some good points Ron, but I'm not sure I have an answer to them. I think it's important to remember that by the time he fought Groves, Froch was in the twilight of his career. Those back to back WBA & IBF title fights against Groves, finished his career. Since starting in 2002 and finishing in 2014, Froch had been put through some serious tests against a host of other world champions which probably took it's toll on the man. Before those two Groves fights, the champs he'd done battle with were, Mikkel Kessler (twice), Lucian Bute, Andre Ward, Glen Johnson, Arthur Abraham, Jermain Taylor and Jean Pascal. Although he won both fights against Groves ( and didn't look good) I think it's fair to say he was a shadow of his former self. If this is so, then it's possible Groves gets a bit more credit than he deserves. Maybe!

Groves is three and a half years down the track now, so is he the fighter he was then? I don't know, but some are saying that after re-hydration, Groves will be a stone heavier that Eubank, so that's a major plus for him. Eubank is seriously hungry and has looked really impressive in the Super Series, so I think he might just have the wood on Groves. 2:88 Eubank by KO, TKO or Disqualification looks value to me .... but I wouldn't know my arse from my elbow. <laugh>

Cops pull over one of those huge beasts that American's call trucks. We just call 'em cars. They were not too happy with the window tinting. It was too dark. Once the driver's window came down, the rozzers got a few shocks. One, the car was being driven by World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder. Two, the vehicle stank of weed. Three, the champ couldn't wait to blame his mates. Maybe he was sucking smoke, maybe he wasn't, but if so, why not put up his hand?

After copping a 30-day suspended sentence and two years of probation, as well as a 60 day community service order, the champ's council were not happy.

"We respect the court's ruling. Of course we were hoping a dismissal would be granted." Wilder's lawyer, Paul Patterson, said in a phone interview. "We are going to look at our options of appellate relief and then move on from there."
 
Eddie Hearn has announced another heavyweight clash. Dillian "the Body Snatcher" Whyte will do the business with Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne at the O2 Arena. At stake will be Whyte's WBC Silver Heavyweight Title and his No1 ranking.

Browne took a WBA title when he stopped Ruslan Chagaev in 10 on March of 2016. He was then rubbed out after a positive test. The ban was overturned, allowing him to keep his perfect fight record, but not the belt. Someone else owned it by then. He's 25 and 0 with 22 stoppages. Whyte has lost just the once, to Anthony Joseph, when the champ to be finished him in 7. He's won 16 of his 22 victories inside the distance.

I can't wait for this. :)

****ing hell Cyc, I don't like the look of him and I don't rate Whyte's chances. Rag doll springs to mind

Scrub that Cyc. Just watched his last fight and he has a glass chin. Doesn't let anyone off the hook though once he has them going. Interesting as Whyte will mix it and only needs to catch him once or twice. Browne seems very easy to hit

I'd agree a 50-50 fight pretty much and neither have that touch of class about them. At this early stage gun to my head I'd lean ever so slightly towards a Browne win

Yes, puts his case very well. Has done his homework and seems to be rattling the Joshua camp without having to resort to anything other than facts. Also seems pretty shrewd as to how things might go afterwards

I have to say I don't really give Parker much of a chance inthis one. I don't necessarily think Joshua is the superstar that he's been made out to be but I just think Parker is a pretty piss poor heavyweight and really can't seem him troubling AJ here.

Can't agree with you more smokey. Wlad showed there are holes in AJ, Parker isn't the man tho.

As I said from outset, AJ reminds me too much of Frank Bruno. Fairly static, orthodox, hits hard, glass chin. At some point he will get knocked cold. Just don't who that will be. Probably someone who can take a punch and wear AJ down. Credit it to him for coming back against Klitscko but he shouldn't really have been let off the hook. A more hungry hard hitter won't be so careful and go all out to finish it off

I felt really happy watching this clip. Watching his outpourings in the lead up to the Klitschko bout, I became a huge fan. I didn't know if he could win that fight, but the plans he outlined stirred up in me, a great hope for him. People will have their favourites. Some will love Joshua or Wilder, others like me, Parker. ( Even though I think he'll lose to A J ) For me though, it's all about Tyson Fury. There is nothing I'd like more that to see him dominate the heavyweight scene again. C'mon the King.
