Well, Thankfully he didn't go with that horrendous Johnathon Banks. I'm assuming he will working out of the Kronk gym?
It looks as though Hill has a bit of a pedigree. According to BoxRec he's had some success. Johnathan Banks. WBO Heavyweight Champion. WBO & IBO Cruiserweight Champion. Cornelius Bundrage. IBF Light Middleweight Champion. Ruslan Chagaev. WBA World Heavyweight Champion.(Twice.) Anthony Dirrell. WBC Super Middleweight Champion. (Twice.) Adonis Stevenson. WBC Light Heavyweight Champion. Only 1 defeat in 10 title fights.
A few days ago we saw the young gun Teofimo Lopez snatch the IBF Lightweight Crown with a sensational performance. The day before, the young, Robert Garcia trained destroyer Vergil Ortiz Jr made a statement of his own. The 21 year old power puncher smashed his way to a record of 15-0 with all wins coming by stoppage. At the moment he's only rated No 9 with the WBC and No 5 with the WBO among the welterweights, but he's destined for much better things in the future. https://fullfightreplay.com/boxing/9066-vergil-ortiz-jr-vs-brad-solomon-full-fight-replay/
Canelo Alvarez has has relinquished WBO light heavyweight belt he took from Sergey Kovalev last month. The WBO don't allow their champions to hold mulitple titles in other sanctioning bodies. Canelo holds the WBA Regular Super Middleweight Title. He's also the WBA Middleweight Super Champion and WBC Franchise Middleweight Champion.
Alvarez is what we would have called a badge collector in the army...ie just looking for as many titles as possible in order to hopefully attain a certain level of lustre and respect.
Jacobs v Chavez Jr. Parts 1 and 2. If then ad comes up just reload the clip. https://www.mma-core.com/videos/Dan...r_Chavez_Jr_Full_Fight_Boxing_Part_1/10336294 https://mmacore.tv/videos/Daniel_Jacobs_vs_Julio_Cesar_Chavez_Jr_Full_Fight_Boxing_Part_2/10336295
Chavez has always had integrity issues. I'm pretty sure he went into the fight game to impress his legendary father and gain his respect. On that note alone he was always heading for a fall.
Off the top of my head I can't think of another boxer who have followed their father into the ring that have had bigger shoes to fill. I'm not sure there's anything Chavez Jr could have done in his career that would have gotten him out of his father's shadow.
12 months and 1 day ago, Tony Harrison caused an upset when to took Jermell Charlo to 12 full rounds and a defeat. A heap of people thought Charlo unlucky, others, including the judges had Harrison clearly in front in the WBC World Super Welterweight Title fight. In the lead up to the return bout, the popular opinion was that Harrison was now walking around in Charlo's head. I quite enjoyed the fight. The Russian commentary is a bit of a blessing. Joe Goosen and Lennox Lewis can sometimes be really biased. Their efforts in the clash last year were a shocker.
Dubois v Fugimoto. When you start the replay, it might go to another link. Just shut it down and restart the replay. https://www.mma-core.com/videos/Daniel_Dubois_vs_Kyotaro_Fujimoto_Full_Fight_Boxing/10336406
I watched this one. Warren should not be putting a ex K1 fighter in with a young and upcoming powerhouse. It was a farce as the guy cannot box and was heading for serious punishment. Hence the brutal ending. Warren needs to sort his **** out and find out what DD is all about in 2020.
It's been quite a while now since Warren matched his boxers in good fights. He doesn't take any risks or chances. Safe fights on safe cards. Heavyweight division is so poor, its ripe for the taking so I'm not into this softly softly approach with Dubois. Throw him into a challenge see how he stands up
I would suggest Joe Joyce. Yes he is painfully rigid and slow, but he can box a little bit and doesn't offer too much of a threat.
