I would.

We are playing much better football to watch, we have reached a cup final for the first time in 30years and the club seems in good hands with a good chance of future success. The only reason I can imagine you wouldn't see that as a positive season was because it would inevitably mean that we would have had a bit of a poor run in 2nd half.

However that it is entirely due to your expectations being elevated by the good run we are currently on.

I disagree simply due to how bad the second half would have to be. Last few seasons have needed 51, 52 and 59 points to finish 10th. So let's say mid-50's on average. That would mean that to drop to 10th from where we are would mean us getting around 15 points from our last 17 games, perhaps as few as 11 points from them. That would be horrific form (like 2 wins, 5 draws, 10 losses - for 11 points) and would have an impact on our buying power in the summer plus often form is carried over into the next season (not always but it's often the case).

Beginning of the season I'd have been happy with 10th, now I'd say below 7th would feel like a bit of a kick in the guts (unless we win the cup in which case we can be relegated for all i care).

Being disappointed is not the same as things not being positive overall.

If Newcastle lose the cup final and finish the season badly I can guarantee once the disappointment ends people will start saying all things considered it's been a great season.

Why? We looked better as soon as Gordon came on and ASM played badly.
I'm just saying i think it will be.
Agree with both - Gordon looked better to me too, but based on previous experience I think Eddie will keep faith in his starting 11. It just seems to be his style. Consistent starting line-up when you can, then introduce from the bench.
