Looks like both sides are playing out for a draw. Let's hope this evening's game provides us with more fireworks. I expect both sides to field similar lineups with the possible introduction of unused subs in this morning's fixture.

Reactions: Obi Wan
Again we need to look at the stats over an extended period. Very single manager in the game makes mistakes during each and every game. Some are minor, some are major. They’re human. We all make mistakes.

The stats last season indicate we finished 5th in the PL and won the League Cup. We did not have a squad that merited higher than 5th IMHO. We may have had a first team that did but not a squad. Given it’s a marathon and not a sprint, calls for the manager’s head for not substituting a player in one game are just plain ridiculous but that did happen on this Forum last season.

Given the final outcome of last season this does suggest EH can, in general, manage games but like every other manager does make mistakes now and then. Yes, last season is last season and it’s now this season that counts. But I genuinely think EH is one of the best managers around and is there with King Kev as best manager at NUFC in my lifetime which, as Obi will tell you, has been a long one.

I would just ask for moderation in criticism if EH does make a mistake and some recognition, which is rarely given by some, for when he gets it right.

I don't think looking at last season carries because the sides are different every season in this highly competitive league.

This season Newcastle have the second lowest XG in the division and they have only 1 win in 5, we also don't need to concede many chances to the opposition for them to score, so something probably needs changing.

It is my opinion and has been for years that if the two CB's are replaced Newcastle will improve at both ends... We will have to wait and see.

I criticise Howe, but I also credit him.. I did exactly the same with Steve Bruce, which is how it always should be.. If it's nothing but praise or criticism then it's an unfair position.

I expect things to spice up for you Jim at around 1pm, when the the team line-ups are announced. <laugh><laugh>

It carries because I'm looking at EH and how he performed and not the individual players or the team per se.
