Borini would be an asset but he is not a crucial need; with his attitude about moving to us let him stay where he is as a bit player.

That'll test Borini's resolve won't it?

I see Juventus are sniffing but I can't see them managing anything better than a loan.

The juve link doesnt bother me, if remy completes his medical before liverpool ko tonight, i could imagine fabio not to play

Ssn saying expecting remy medical to be complete tomorrow, probs be unveiled in the next half hour then

This is exactly it for me. If he wanted to come, he'd be here by now. We should pull the plug imo.

I don't know about this, if you played for Liverpool as a striker and the main striker had just been sold wouldn't you want to be fighting for the championship and in the champions league?
Or he could come to club which has been known to struggle to stay in the league.
I for 1 admire the kid for wanting to play at the highest level and thinking he is good enough to do that.
I have a feeling though that Rodgers at some point will let him know he isint in the main plans probably after he sorts out the strikers he really wants.
Then I think all parties will be happy to move to Sunderland.

He might be waiting to see if Alonso signs as well as Vergini etc.

Possibly but I'm still not sure about spending £14m on someone who doesn't even want to play for us? As has been said I don't think he's crucial to us, we have Giachh and Johnno on the wings with some promising youngsters coming through. In addition, we should have had backup targets in case of this eventuality... isn't that the DOFs job? So we don't have to break our transfer record bringing someone in who really doesn't give a ****?

Van Gaal will be having a clear out as soon as he can bring his own players in, there's 40 days of the window left.

I'd imagine Poyet will be aware of whether the likes of Welbeck may become available.

Fabio Borini has been named among Liverpool's starting XI to face Roma in Thursday's pre-season friendly, despite reports that he is on the brink of joining Sunderland.

The Black Cats claim to have agreed terms with the Italian, who spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light, but his selection suggests that the move may not be imminent.

Sunderland are said to have offered around £14m for the Borini, who joined Liverpool in 2012.

Summer signing Rickie Lambert is partnering Borini in the attack, while Lucas, Joe Allen and Philippe Coutinho make up a three-man midfield for the Reds.

Former Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole has been named in the Roma starting XI

update

SUNDERLAND target Fabio Borini was forced off with a shoulder injury in his latest outing for Liverpool tonight.

The Black Cats last week agreed a £14million fee with Liverpool for the Italian forward, but he flew out with the Reds to America for the Premier League runners-up’s pre-season tour.

Tonight, Borini lasted only 11 minutes of the Fenway Park friendly against Roma in Boston before a shoulder problem saw him replaced by summer signing Emre Can.

He fell awkwardly in the very early stages and could not continue, after giving it a few minutes.

I`ve given up trying to understand what`s going on now.

Beginning to think if we`re being messed about just to forget it and move on. Got to draw the line somewhere.
