Anyone know if the lamp posts in the park were deliberately ungalvanised to give them the rust look or if the cheap bastards just cut corners?

They've been like that since their erection (lol), so it must be deliberate.

I know, but you'd have thought if it was deliberate they'd have lacquered over it to preserve the metal, but its just bare metal and left how it is, before you know it you'll be able to just put your hand on it and go straight through.

The metal is made to go like that, it just turns that colour on top, it doesn't actually rust away.
