I rate him higher than JDG and Poz (he's got a lot of potential though) and would add really good cover to jonjo and Michu.
Since Poyet took charge, he's been instrumental in helping Sunderland climbing the table.

So what your saying is that it benifits a small club like Swansea to have one of the highest earning players to be a 3rd choice bench warmer ??

Its debatable that he is even 3rd choice anyway, having seen Pablo play in that attacking midfield position the last 2 games id say he is first choice there at the moment, that would make Ki 4th choice !

As i said, ive watched the mackems alot this season and the word instrumental is a bit over used regarding Ki . What he is doing for them and what has got them ****ing over him is the fact that he keeps the ball, gives it out ,takes it back, even the likes of Lee Lucas would star in that Sunderland team playing that type of game,he is special there but that kind of player here is 2 a penny, unless he brings something extra to the table down here is stuck behind far better players.

He has his chance to shine with us and didnt take it, he then threw his toys out the pram and told Laudrup he only wanted to play a certain position, well, im sorry to say but unless your Messi or Rooney or RVP you as a player dictate fook all !!

The basic problem with him here was that he wasnt good enough to force his way past better players.

Well put matt , in only a few words .I'm hoping that Sunderland keep on lovin him norway , and we recope some of that " overpriced " money we payed for him . We could have bought a team of Pozuelo's for what was spent on him .

A team of Pozuelos would do bugger all for us as although he can be brilliant at times, he can also be very poor at times.

Leon is coming towards the end of his career and Ki for me can be the ideal replacement for him in a year or so. JDG will be gone in the summer, and possibly Michu if somebody comes knocking. Pablo for me is a very good impact player, so that could leave jonjo and Ki fighting for the attacking midfielder position.

Why not? He was bought because he was excelling and effective in a certain position hence being bought. It's silly to buy a player and then 'force' him to play a different position, especially from AM to DM.

For me , Ki distributes the ball around without a lot of thought , Pozuelo can create and is already into those passing triangles . All a part of opinions , but the finances between the 2 make it clear cut for me .Hope we retain some of the overpriced money we payed for Ki , and I think we have a sucker on the line now with Sunderland .

Clearly Ki splits opinion, but I see him as a far more effective player than De Guzman who is only on loan, and with Laudrup now history, I really do not see us keeping him, so it's only reasonable to expect a midfielder of Ki's quality to return due to the differences he and Laudrup had, and Jenkins has been through this issue before with Managers with Britton wanting out under Sousa, and ending up at Sheffield for a short spell.

Ki is a Swansea player De Guzman is not, and at the end of the season he will be back at Villarreal sitting on the bench, as no way would Jenkins pay his €8.5 million value, even if we did sell Ki for £6 or 7 million. A lot will depend on what our Manager wishes are to, whether that be Gary Monk or someone else.

How are we discussing Ki, I thought this thread was about Bony staying at Swansea....<laugh>

You think leon will be done in a year or two ? hmm... anyway, Canas is the replacement for leon isnt he ?

Well if you listen to the celtic fans they will tell you he is neither "effective "or" excelling" in fact most of the Celtic fans thought they mugged us with how much we over paid for Ki, which tells us alot.

If you want to talk about muggings, then lets talk seriously! Craig Beattie now there was a serious mugging......................<laugh>

As for it being silly to change a players position ,that is highly debatable !!

Leon britton- winger to centre midfielder.
Gareth southgate centre mid field to centre half.
John charles centre half to striker to centre half.
Gareth bale full back to winger/striker

The list goes on and on and on...

If Ki as suggested was not happy playing the DM role, why when he first went to Sunderland did he take up the DM role?

To hell with what people thought of him a year ago, playing in his favoured position, he's been very good for Sunderland this season, as is evident by how highly the Mackems rate him.
It was a mistake to keep JDG and let him go out on loan IMO.

Exactly..<ok> We never paid £6m for nothing, i don't have any rose tinted glasses on i see what we are missing watching him play for Sunderland and his contribution to their increased performance when used properly. He would fit in and be an asset for us next season, I have no doubt about that...<ok> There is nothing wrong with JDG either, He has had as many good games as bad games under laudrup so i wont rubbish the guy for that as you can name every other player the same during laudrups reign. Lets wait and see what he can do under monk....

Replacement in that he won't need to start every game then, they can manage him to get a couple of extra seasons out of him. I don't seen Canas as Leon's long term replacement.
