What irks me Colk is the fact that in all probability should we qualify we would still send a team to Qatar despite everything that has happened there so far with regard to the dreadful working conditions deaths etc. It simply baggars belief !!

I'm holding out hope that it all gets shut down. I'm hoping that internal investigation comes out soon. I imagine it makes for pretty interesting reading.

True. What it needed (past tense) was several 'high profile' footballing nations to say "we disagree with Qatar's (lack of any) stance on human rights and so we're boycotting the event" If England alone pulled out for ethical reasons, then nobody would really miss us as we rarely get out of the group stages anyway <yikes> But if, say, Spain, Germany and Italy all took the same stance, that would have far more impact in devaluing the tournament.

This is exactly the problem. As an international organisation, FIFA have consistently shown a disregard for any sort of duty - they have quite literally behaved "above the law".

Widespread bribes, disregard for human rights, illogical decisions and flagrant graft are all symptomatic of an organisation that simply does not consider itself answerable to anyone at all. And they don't even deny it - when accused of all these things their response was that they had complied with "FIFA's code of ethics"! Well, obviously. Presumably FIFA's code of ethics is pretty limited then.

The main thing that FIFA needs to do is arrange with local FAs to set-up some sort of regulator that is totally independent from FIFA. Given the power and wealth of FIFA, any regulator should probably be linked to the UN or some sort of international political organisation tbh.

Agreed, and this leads into something I've been thinking about with the UN getting more involved in controlling banks and big corporations with the intent of spreading equality. FIFA are a huge organisation that has involvement across the globe. Everyone needs over sight, something we've consistently seen with bankers and corporations and governments.

Having every dealing in the public eye means they have to adhere to the public's overall general standards. With the internet becoming what it is you would think more people would be demanding the information, and heralding someone like Snowden as a hero! He's gave up his life to expose a huge amount of information to the public's, that is currently being quashed and distracted from by big media corporations.

    That's a different debate though.

Jack Warner ( not Dixon of Dock Green ) Is to tell the US authorities all, with documented evidence. He claims to know the real reason for Blatters departure and is prepared to include that as well. This could run and run.

I also heard on talkSPORT this morning that he now 'fears for his life" <yikes>

Also just heard that England should be prepared to step in at short notice to host 2018 World Cup

Just trying to ensure he does not spend his last years in prison. Turning states evidence for his transgressions being overlooked.

So it turns out Blatter has "done a Carrabuh" and is now saying that he has not resigned because he has a different interpretation of the words he used...

    When will this farce end?
