If we get Sharp it will certainly be a coup - if we want him! For sure his possible transfer is already becoming a saga.

I don't know why but I have a gut feeling Nick has got some unexpected names on his radar which are not on any of the posters on here - a few surprises?

Could well be, mate.

Whilst at Middlesboro on Monday , I was told (rumour) that Sharp had already had a medical at Hull and it was a case of waiting for the transfer window to open. He does not want to relocate with his family and Hull is in a good position for him.

Time will tell.....could be a load of bollocks?

I think the most salient part of that article is where it questions whether Sharp is the type of player we need.

He is ready for a move, it would seem but can he play alone in a 4-2-3-1?

Player power could push this through for us.
He won't be pressured into any move by Donny due to his personal problems, I can see us getting him if we offer £2M.
We are in a good position to get some decent signings in at the minute.
Well known and respected manager, good footballing team, well placed in the league, stability off the pitch all with the possibility of this group of youngsters forming the spine of our team for a good few years.

Top post ^^^^^^ this. The other Major factor in all this will be IF Billy Sharp really does want to come to Hull City. IF he does then the deal will be a simple one and it wont matter what other clubs bid for him. Life has just shown him that money is not everything in this world despite what many (even on here) still think. Interesting times ahead in Jan.

That's why I highlighted that sentence, Strov. But how does he play for Donny - is it as a lone striker?

There are players out there who are not motivated by cash.
What prospects does anyone have if they sign for Leicester or Man City??
If there not a world class player at Man City then they'll be sat on the bench if there lucky getting minor cup appearances or the odd Prem sub.
At Leicester they may be used to TRY and achieve promotion to the Prem, if they do go up they'll be cast aside for proven Prem quality, if they fail to get promoted they'll be sold as they were not good enough to get the club promotion.
We are building a decent squad who ALL want the same thing as a TEAM, and as a CLUB on and off the pitch.
Players can see that and it means a hell of a lot more than a bag of cash to some.
Billy Sharp's outlook on things will be a bit different to all the other cash hunting players out there I would think.

Another Top post ^^^^^ this. Your on fire today mate. Better have Fireman Sam on standby today ?: ;)

Has anyone stopped to think (in the unlikely event that we did get Sharp) that perhaps we would play this:

Gulacsi

Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dawson/Dudgeon

Evans McKenna

Stewart Koren Fryatt

Sharp

subs: Daws/Dudgeon,McLean, Olofinjana, McShane, Brady

???

Fryatt's a clever player and works really hard for the team and has put in some intelligent balls into the box (as well as gettign in the right positions).

Is it possible?

I cannot see why Pearson wants him, isn't he a carbon copy of Nugent in terms of style?

maybe trying to lay down a marker with a top signing (money wise) but yes you make a valid point. imo, Beckford is a far more talented player than sharp but NP cannot handle egoes can he ? no surprise that Beckford can leave in Jan ?
so who will rush to pay the price for him ?

IF we get Sharp, i would expect him to debut in the FA Cup game (which would put a few more on the gate) and see how he goes. January is gonna be a fun time for sure.

like your thinking and yes its very possible. it also shows up well the strength that the squad would have and the options from the bench when needed. january and february are always a heavy slog so all the players would get games and rotattion to keep freshness is key. One thing though, Interesting that you find no place for Garcia on the bench or a back up GK ? so imo, i think McShane would be a big doubt one way or another.
