Upon hearing of the death of his countryman, veteran sports journalist Jorge Lopez, who was killed in a car crash, he posted a tribute to him on Twitter.
Sounds fine, but unfortunately offered his sympathies to the man's wife before anyone had gotten round to telling her what had happened.
Her response was a simple 'No', before following up with an understandably panicked sounding, "Diego, don’t tell me that. Someone, please call me."
Horrible.
Apparently he was killed when a stolen car that was fleeing from the police hit the taxi that he was travelling in.
The cabbie injured his shoulder and the occupants of the nicked vehicle were all fine, bloody typically, though they were arrested.

Nobody informed her, for some reason. She was waiting for her husband at their hotel in Sao Paulo.
We join in the playoff round, so the draw's on the 8th of August.
We're currently the second highest seeds, so we'll definitely be seeded, but Lyon would go ahead of us if (when) they get through.
I believe that we're even guaranteed to be in Pot 1 for the groups stage, if we qualify.
