I've just watched it again, just incase my obs on the wall made me miss something, but no, every kick from Bale there is inside if his foot, he doesn't get over the ball straight on with his instep once, even the first one is side foot, its a different angle to the rest, but its a side footer imo.
Before this goes the way it usually does! I'm not saying its the only way CR7 takes his kicks, of course he uses the inside foot, but for me his trademark is that straight run up, thats how he gets the 'dip', not sure you can get it to dip with the inside of your foot...can you??
Fair enough you're probably right. I actually misread what you said and thought you were saying Bale was the one that normally laces it so I thought I was giving you the benefit of the doubt by saying one or two in the video were laces
In the video I think Bale's just practicing hitting different areas of the goal with the same type of contact(inside boot), I remember him scoring one for Wales recently(against Belgium, I think) where he hit it with his laces so I think it's something he can do too.
Yeah, I think Ronaldo gets it to dip using his laces to somehow put a ridiculous amount of top spin on the ball. I seem to remember he also said that he lines up the valve of the ball to get full contact which adds to the ball wobbling in the air. It's a bit scary for a keeper now when he lines up a freekick, he can leather it at a corner, hit the dipping, "wobbling" one we talked about and also hit it with his sidefoot pretty much anywhere in the goal with the same action.
