RIP JImmy Armfield. A gentleman, a good man, a great footballer, and more recently a pundit actually worth listening to.
Maybe Son isn't the most popular South Korean? South Korea's Hyeon Chung played superbly to beat Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open as the six-time champion struggled with injury.
I agree very much, he always offered interesting thoughtful comments. He was a very big name in his heyday, younger fans may not be aware of that. but he played all of his football for Blackpool and England who also had Stanley Mathews. When I was a lad Mathews was interchangeable with the word football we all thought he was the greatest player on the planet alongside players like Di Stefano and Puskas. These were the football gods of the day and Jimmy Armfield played with Mathews at Blackpool and captained England.
Stan Matthews was the king when I was a boy.Got his autograph at a sitting at the High Road Co-op in Tottenham before a Spurs Blackpool game. But they do say the first "star" was Billy Meredith,a little before my time....!
Very apt phrase under the Joey Barton video talking about gambling, although their spelling is a bit off http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and...ey-barton-speaks-out-about-gambling-addiction More On: Gambling
Kyle Edmund - through to Australian Open S-F. Plays Cilic as Nadal retired hurt. I doubt he'll get any further, but he's done very well so far and this result should propel him up the rankings from no.49
Spurs v Newcastle, switched to Friday 16 March at 8pm. Do Sky ever give any consideration to travelling fans ? Whatever time are the Geordies going to get home ? Ridiculous.
Friday night home games (if the broadcasters are to persist in this stupidity) for Spurs should only be against opposition whose core support is in London + Home counties. So that means other London clubs, Watford etc ... and Man Utd.
And no doubt this is inside / part of the causal wave wake : https://www.afcb.co.uk/news/first-team/spurs-in-march-rescheduled-for-tv A bit more analysis shows the wave source may be : Saturday 10th March Manchester United 12:30 Liverpool
Sky should be made to pay all the consequential costs - for example, meeting the cost for the Newcastle fans having to stay in London on a Friday night.
If it was really a train from Euston then Wembley Central could theoretically be a stop. But as it goes from Kings Cross this won't work either.
