Sometimes Rooney looks a very ordinary player, with little guile. He mentally gave up with 20 minutes to go.

Over-rated. He just isn't that good. Produces the good rarely and a bad attitude. Makes me laugh when he scores a few goals and people suddenly think he's the best player ever.

Cloud to our silver lining:

This is going to make our life a bit harder, not sure either of them are going to take the Europa too seriously so will not have the distractions that they otherwise would have.

On the other hand if United continue to play without a spark apart from Park (sorry it just rhymed) then they won't be as a big a danger as their history suggests.

I'm glad to see the penny has dropped. Whilst you may take some pleasure from the demise of other teams, there is no benefit to Spurs.

Both Manchester clubs will see the title as an absolute priority with no distractions. Rooney's injury v Bayern in the CL Q-F last April cost Utd the title (to Chelsea). There will be no such beneficiaries this time.

The only encouragement should be the lack of any inspiration for Utd. Some perspiration (although there was too little time to open up Harry after Tom and Dick had collapsed), but insufficient quality shown tonight to beat a team who would suffer by comparison to Stoke or Norwich.

On the contrary Luke the demise of both Manchester teams is very good news for Spurs. In Uniteds case it is not just a blip, they have been off the boil for much of this season. It's only the fact that L/pool Chelsea & Arsenal have been worse that they are still up there.

This is not at all true, there is enormous benefit to Spurs.

Both Manchester Clubs have suffered from a damaged reputation from going out at this stage, they will be much less attractive now to new signings in January (which are needed in both cases, clearly).

In addition they will lose money from gate receipts and TV revenue (although admittedly, this is not that significant for City).

Not so bad really as Arsenal and Chelsea will have to play their best teams in the last 16 and really they are our competitors for the 3rd 4th place(I know we would like to get 2nd or even 1st).So with the Manc's both losing they can put out their best teams against both Arsenal and Chelsea.Have to look at the fixture list now.

You pompous blind arse! Vidic out...PL clean sheets stop here, you're ****e at the back without him, and as for your keeper! <laugh>...can you lot just step aside and let us deal with ****ty! :D

He's probably over on the United board...<whistle>

Oh on the United board they were blaming the ref at half time, saying the 1st goal shouldn't have been allowed coz a united player was down with a head injury. The silly sod bumped into his own team mate and was getting up before the ball had even gone in the net.OH HAPPY DAYS.

I saw Rooney berating the ref, I wonder if it was for him missing an open goal! :)

Evra says it's a "catastrophe" that Yernited were knocked out in the first round for just the third time in 17 years.

Actually, Patrice, it isn't - these are...
