The one good thing to come from it was Santini's indifference to it was directly responsible for him being sacked - which meant Levy followed Arnesen's intial recommendation and installed Jol as manager.

Elaborate. I still to this day don't know why he was sacked so I'd love to know. if not the time or place I understand.

We played against Bolton on the same day, and when the subject of Bill Nick's death came up in the post-match interview Santini was pretty dismissive about its significance to the club. Santini was gone within two weeks.

As for the other half, Arnesen stated the manager Levy should bring in was Martin Jol, and Levy did...then got cold feet and brought in Santini to satisfy the need for a "big name" manager.

A couple of squatters on the Spurs board from other clubs have said we are turning into an unpredictable team. I have to somewhat agree. There have been times when I could say that we will win a match with a lot of confidence but at the moment it's very much hit and hope. Even though we'd gone unbeaten in nine I still wasn't confident because of the hit and miss performances. We are still missing something and I don't know what. Maybe it's a Willian type of player so roll on January.

Well against Chelsea we were missing Lloris, Dembele, Bale, Parker, Adebayor and Kaboul for starters.

Willian might help, he might not, he might join, he might not. AVB has more than enough talent in the squad to be doing better than we are, and there's no saying that Willian will make the difference.

It's been a reasonable start, all things considered, but I agree we need to up our overall game from hereon in. Am I confident we will, not at all.

I feel we need a creative midfield player, and a striker still,we bought Dembele but he is more of a defensive midfielder,Willan might be the one to take over from Modric, also we still need that 20 goals a season striker

I think that we might end up pushing Dembele into a more attacking role and bringing in a playmaker in January.
That'd give us good options and back-up in virtually every position. Linked with Pjanic again today.

I was going to just edit your post YV, but I wasn't sure it would work and I didn't want to lose the original link! <laugh>
I'm like the Wizard of Oz. I may get **** done, but you don't want to take a peek behind the curtain or you'll see how the 'magic' happens.

It's a tough one really as I'm sure Dempsey was bought because of our failure to get Moutinho or Willian in and if we either pushed Dembele forward or signed another attcking midfielder it will push Dempsey and Sigurdsson to the fringes in their first season with us. On the otherhand we will need to sign someone who can also play Dembele's role, glad I'm not the manager.

Dzagoev might be another player who's name crops up again in January and having looked up his start to the season it seems that in 8 games he's scorede 3 and got himself sent off twice! Bit of a mixed start to the season for him then...

I think that we need to prepare for rotation though, YV.
Dempsey, Sigurdsson and Townsend pushing Lennon, Dembele and Bale would suit me, especially if we're still progressing in various competitions.

I'm watching Dortmund/Real and Modric was on the bench until a minute ago. Real dominated the first 10 minutes but Dortmund are coming back. Bloody tough to break through Real's defence though. No wonder they're top.

I'm watching Ajax and City. City went ahead and Ajax have just equalised (De Jong) on the stroke of half-time.

Two good goals in this game. Goals which look better every time you see them. Looking forward to the 2nd half.

2-1 Ajax,GET STUCK IN. Sorry Spurcat I'm stealing your thunder here. I'm so excited I forgot which match I'm reporting on. Borussia had two good chances. Come On Dortmund, leave City well behind.
