Joe Cracknell is the youth goalie at the minute, Rory Watson is the U18's back up goalie. I'd expect to see a goalie come in very soon, but Oxley will be alright as cover if his finger is better. In fact, he'd probably do as a bench warmer. I'd go as far to say if he's fully fit, Leyton Orient would be a good debut for him but I don't think his hand has fully healed yet.
we might get special dispensation for a keeper, with emergency loans being pretty much exclusive for that position. Surely if we ring the FA and say we've got this guy who we don't want to play, but can he sit on the bench in case our keeper gets injured please? They might not be total dicks...
You would have thought Stockdale would have baeen back with us soon after leaving as Martin Jol was linked with a £800k foreign keeper- not sure if he managed to sign him. Then Schwarzer goes and get injured and Stockdale makes gaffs for both goals in his first game ( a 2-1 defeat) but then gets in the MoTD team of the week on New Years Day. Where the hell does that leave us with him? Jakupovic then does little wrong in the three or four games he's payed albeit some of his saves at Blackpool were certainly unothordox to say the least. Quite a quandray for SB.
Always liked Amos, shame to see him go but it makes sense from his and United's point of view. Hopefully Stockdale or Robinson will come in pretty soon. I've always liked Robinson, I thought he should have been making England squads up until recently. Mind yu I haven't seen much of him lately so he might still be just as good now. Stockdale is a bit younger though so would be a great player to sign for the long term. Also isn't Robinson an East Yorkshire white?
He has been recalled because Sir Alex will not have one of his young players loaned out warming someone's bench. Amos has had a massive confidence knock, that was clear to see. The fact Jakupovic took his chance when he was given it was a big factor in Amos not getting another chance. As for people talking about a new keeper. Paul Robinson and the like being named. Jakupovic is our No1 and if he carries on playing as he is, he will be so for a while to come. You're not going to be able to sign a quality keeper who is happy sitting on the bench. Competiton for places, fair enough, but persuading a good experienced keeper to sign knowing it's going to be a struggle to get off the bench isn't going to happen. Anyway, good luck to Ben. I hope he get's another chance somewhere else where he is getting games.
As I mentioned before Christmas, we've been looking at Simon Moore at Brentford. I think the fact that there's a possibility he might be a PL goalie by the Summer might tempt him into a move here, plus I don't think Brentford would ask mega money for him. He's very highly rated and would help with the home grown bollocks you get in the PL.
I wouldn't be surprised if we sign a keeper tomorrow in time for Orient, it would obviously be a joint decision between both clubs to send Amos back and im assuming Bruce wouldn't do so if he didn't have someone lined up in time for a game, even if it is a cup match which i hope we take serious and try to do well in, unlike previous years when we've fielded our reserves and not gave two ****s if we won, lost or drew. Seems there must be something in the Robinson rumour, i hope for once we SIGN a keeper intead of loaning one.
Fulham were supposedly signing Sinan Bolat which would suggest Stockdale would be free to leave for us should we want him, however Standard Liège but a deadline of the 3rd on his transfer and since i haven't heard of anything i would assume he isnt signing for them, either meaning they have someone else in line or they are happy with Stockdale and willing for him to be there number 1. Either way this is surely bad news for us?
In the PL 8 of the 25 have to be home grown. In the Championship 10 of them do. (in both cases that's assuming you have a full 25 to name)
Mark Oxley is not an option as per my previous post. Correct. As its only the FAC against Orient so do we need to waste a bench space with a jnr GK ? Just name 7 outfielders. We could always play fly-goalie if anything happened to Jakupovic ? Interesting but makes good sense if it happens. We have the 8 already so no issues over this even now. SB has lots of options squad wise for the PL rules.
Joe Cracknell, the lads very highly rated at City he's made the first team bench once I think it was the game against Crawley.
I've seen him for ressies and he looks half decent, according to ESPN he's been on the bench twice for cup games, one we won and one we lost(it doesn't detail the games and I'm not sure it's that accurate a site). He's unlikely to be required, so I'm sure it's not likely to worry us too much.
This really does seem an error to have Oxley cuptied. I imagine he wouldve significantly benefitted from even being involved on matchday and what happens if The Jak picks up a strain in the warm up or during the game?
I'm surprised Oxley is still here. The amount of injuries he has gone through, he more often sidelined than fit.
