Yeah but if Nicola did a Hull City Tigers type thing (e.g. rebranding you as Southampton Saints - which coincidentally is the name of the Southampton's womens team) for overseas branding purposes would you be against it? You're right a club's soul is more than just it's kit (although that is part of it no doubt)

Yep I would be against a name change. As for kit change stripes get boring and you can only do a few things to change them. Nothing against a mainly red kit it's just this seasons kit looks bad.

I'd be against a name change because it'd make us a laughing stock, like it has with Hull. Won't happen anyway, Cortese wants to make us more professional - hence the Twitter and Facebook names changing from officialsaints (or whatever it was) to SouthamptonFC.

We're 500-1 on Paddy Power to be renamed Southampton Bay Pirates. Mind you, there's a daft bet for every club that follows that trend.

Community Shield at 2pm, traditional curtain-raiser for the Premier League.

UNITED: De Gea; Rafael, Vidic, Jones, Evra; Zaha, Carrick, Cleverley, Giggs; Van Persie, Welbeck.

WIGAN: Carson; Perch, Boyce, Barnett, Crainey; McCarthy, Watson, McArthur; Maloney, Holt, McClean.

I thought last seasons kit was awful at first but compared to this seasons kit it is bloody wonderful.

I will say that we always seem to have a great away kit and I like the black this season and liked the yellow from last year.

If they can keep hold of McCarthy and Maloney, Wigan have a pretty excellent team for the Championship.
