As said...very sad, but accidents happen (and I would say the same whichever ground it was). Won't even blame the Stoke fans for jumping up and down....this is a football crowd...unless someone deliberately pushed her (and I doubt that). For all anyone knows, she might have got excited as well when they scored. Stewards do their best and remember how much they get criticised and blamed for heavy handed policing. They will only interfere is there is a sign of violence and i doubt that is true. I find it very sad that people don't realise that what they are really doing is trying to alleviate grief. My mother who had had a stroke died after falling out of bed in the hospital. No one could have cared more for her than those nurses and she may have died anyway or fallen because she was dying. I had no interest in pursuing it...people today just won't accept accidents happen and we all die eventually.
That's an excellent point Fran; I had overlooked that myself and feel a little bad for not spotting that. I agree too that often people look to 'pursue' situations and this is often a way of dealing with the grief and may be more attention should be paid to helping people deal emotionally with these situations.
It is also a good point raised as to who was with her at the time.
