The official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Beefy's Corner".
Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site. So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one.

Yeah it's been amazing. Just ate freshly caught barracuda. Sent Mrs Q off for cocktails so I could steal 5 minutes Saints updates. I'm probably a bad person.

Welcome to Beefy's 19th corner. Joe celebrates cricket being exiled from Beefy's by getting his first win since Beefy 6, topped off with a rather beautiful gif. TSS comes second and DTLW grabs third. If someone would be kind enough to do the table?

This is a very sad story about an old lady who has sadly passed away and I offer condolences to any friends and her family. However, reading this article sounds like there is a witch-hunt to find someone to blame. Nowhere does it ask questions about the Stoke fans and I feel it's tone is a little damning. I would ask that the family suggest a few questions be aimed at Stoke fans who may have jumped up and down excitedly without paying any due care to an old lady sat near them.

Very sad. But they're looking for scapegoats here. The people to blame here are the Stoke fans who celebrated with no consideration to the people around them. And it was an end of season nothing to play for match for gods sake! Not the FA Cup final. No need for such a big celebration.

As said...very sad, but accidents happen (and I would say the same whichever ground it was). Won't even blame the Stoke fans for jumping up and down....this is a football crowd...unless someone deliberately pushed her (and I doubt that). For all anyone knows, she might have got excited as well when they scored. Stewards do their best and remember how much they get criticised and blamed for heavy handed policing. They will only interfere is there is a sign of violence and i doubt that is true. I find it very sad that people don't realise that what they are really doing is trying to alleviate grief. My mother who had had a stroke died after falling out of bed in the hospital. No one could have cared more for her than those nurses and she may have died anyway or fallen because she was dying. I had no interest in pursuing it...people today just won't accept accidents happen and we all die eventually.

I agree with everything that's been said here. The lady was 93 years old, which is a fantastic age to still be going to football matches, but it does beg the question of who was looking after her. In any away crowd there is always going to be a bit of jumping around when your team scores, it's part of what going to football is all about. If this dear old lady has been going to matches for most of her life she will have no doubt seen a lot worse crowds than Stoke at St. Mary's, and a lot worse stewarding than SMS offers. Very sad, but not really anything to blame anyone about.

I don't think you should have to curb your enthusiasm because of who may be sitting around you. If your team scores, go mental, especially if you travelled all that way.
