The official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Beefy's Corner".

Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site.
So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one.

Now carry on...

In regards to Greenidge and Barry Richards TSS, I'm very familiar with them. My grandfather told me many tales of their partnership for Hampshire and the fearsome West Indies teams of the 70s and 80s of which Greenidge was a part. Greenidge was his favourite player and he had a signed bat which Greenidge used for Hampshire, he told me many different and extravagant stories of how he got hold of it, and I don't know which one was true haha. He'd bring it out regularly with a very firm 'look don't touch' policy, but promised me I could have it when he died. Unfortunately he didn't leave it to me in his will and I never did manage to get my hands on it, in all likelihood one of my uncles probably nicked it. Perhaps it's no surprise really that he never told me about Procter tearing through the Hampshire batsmen! <laugh>

Nice story, and nice to be able to point you towards expanding your cricket history knowledge.

Me included. And a successful job hunting Pompey supporter with a obsession with one particular woman [you know who it is even if I've overplayed the Pompey bit ;) ] gets the nod in front of -DTLW, with Joe coming in 3rd. :)

I'm now pretty sure Lapras no longer supports Pompey. We ought to club together and buy him the new Saints shirt when it comes out! In fact I'm going to go one step further, if a game comes up during the next season that I can't attend, I am going to forward my season ticket to him to use for free to complete his conversion! Disclaimer : I didn't miss any games this season gone.

Hull City are apparently in for...........

wait for it.....

My wife and I spent the first day without the baby today.

It was nice, but also horrible.

Need to stop making these new Beefy's Corners without me around!

Also to one of TSS' posts in the last thread: I do definitely know Barry Richards and Gordon Greenidge. I'm versed on my Hampshire history (was a member for a couple of years), so I've not got any huge holes in my knowledge there. Still, strange I hadn't heard of Procter.

Jeez, seems like we're having a new thread every week now. The competition is fierce.

Good timing for this one as well, as the last episode of Game of Thrones is tomorrow so you can expect lots of posts from me and Dan.

I got 35 on my last one, my new record! Probably down to extended cricketing talk with the NZ series and CT.
