I have to say I really didn't get on with that GoT episode, some I find a bit 'meh', although all of them this season have been excellent, but I actively disliked that one.

[NSFW]Well my little niggles were things such as like you discussed earlier, the kid playing Rickon was fairly rubbish, and the fact that Jon Snow's presence was an afterthought to Bran, and Jon just leaving Ygritte seemed weird to me too. I liked the Sam bit and the Hound/Arya bits, and the Dany bits were good although I'm not warming to Dario Naharis really. I didn't like just cutting between Greyworm, Jorah and Dario being surrounded to 'Oh look they are back and the city has been captured', and the bit at the very end with Catelyn was bizarre (Scream/Kill/Stare Gormlessly for several seconds/Gets Killed) and the SFX of her slitting Frey's wifes throat and her in turn having her throat slit were poor. And overall it just seemed like a bit of a **** end to those characters, I know Game of Thrones has some of the most short-lived characters around but three seasons of building up Robb and the tension of the war to just have him Catelyn, Talisa and the Blackfish crudely and obviously slaughtered in the space of five minutes by two characters we barely know seemed a waste. I don't mind characters dying, in fact it adds to the show, but with the masterful use of tension and little plotting and planning and huge build-ups to epic climactic moments, that just seemed a bit tame. It just felt like a lot of story-lines that have been building came to rather abrupt and weak endings.[/NSFW]

I lost my friggin' train ticket! Worst thing is, I'm not sure where. I'm 98% sure I didn't leave it during the interview, but 2% of me things I may have done even though I'm pretty sure I didn't as I don't recall seeing it and I know both my hands were empty as I was doing lots of gesticulating. In fact, I thought I'd put it in my top inside breast pocket. I may have lost it when I took off my jacket for lunch as it may have fallen out of my pocket, but it'd just be nice to know for sure that I didn't leave it during the interview.

[nsfw]Interesting, fair enough, I don't agree but I see why you'd think that. One thing I'll pick up on is the idea of them dying to useless characters, I don't think that's true at all. While the hands holding the knives were fairly worthless, it was the order that killed them. I mean, who killed Ned Stark? Ilyn Payne, a character who literally doesn't speak, but who actually killed him? Joffrey did. Similarly, it was the Lannisters who killed Robb and his crew, they just found an eager hand in Walder Frey + co to do it. And on top of that, I thought the tension was done very well, the Rains of Castamere performance was quite haunting, ruined a bit by the bluntness of stabbing the **** out of foetal Eddard, but still.[/nsfw]

I can see Everton finishing around 10th next season. I don't think Martinez is awful but I don't think he's particularly good either. Not sure why Everton haven't gone for Vitor Pereira if he was a viable target.

This summer is going great for us in terms of teams we might be able to reel in next season. I'd bet on Everton and Spurs being noticeably worse. If Laudrup was to leave Swansea as well that'd be perfect.

[nsfw]Jon Snow did push Ygritte over before she could kill one of the Wildlings, presumably so they wouldn't kill her if he failed; not sure that plot thread is totally resolved.

As for them being killed in anti-climactic fashion, I like that about Game of Thrones. With Ned Stark, practically everyone was awaiting the saved-at-the-last-minute twist that always occurs when important characters are about to die...and then he got his head chopped off. Here, we have what looked like a complete nothing of a plot offshoot in the wedding, ending in the deaths of three primary characters and the upheaval of the central plot for the past two seasons. It reinforces the idea that death waits around every corner in Westeros; major characters don't get the 'good death' that narrative dramas usually require, and sometimes they see their heads lopped off while they're helpless, or get murdered where they stand by a bunch of skeezy traitors at the wedding of a ne'er-do-well relative.[/nsfw]

Had a bet on him going to Everton at 3/1 put a tenner on, but also had a bet on Pereira at 20/1.

Got a bit ahead of myself with being fit today. Ran to work this morning. Then went to the gym after work, then ran home. Was still hot at 6 and with a rucksack on too I probably didn't need the gym session too. Oh well. Saved myself £5.60 on the bus fare and burned some serious calories. That said, I'm getting the bus tomorrow!!
