Rangers' Chairman Green says that his team will be in English leagues within 5 years...they will play their way through the lower leagues. Any attempt to block them will be restraint of trade under European Law (he says). Don't know the fine detail of that, but we have the precedent of Swansea and Cardiff (though their inclusion was because they were already in the league when the Wales league was formed).

That old chestnut..! The last time Rangers [and Celtic] tried to get into the English League, around 12 years ago, the FL welcomed them with open arms, and the PL vetoed it. So much for competition.

Surely if the FL allow it and Rangers come up through the leagues, the PL couldn't block Rangers coming up via the Championship. I suspect when it was raised all those years ago, Rangers thought they would enter higher up. Now they are playing in the lower Scottish leagues, the English leagues seem more attractive. Another question is does Scotland think they are a separate country or not.

Rumour around that West Ham will not complete transfer of Carroll (no surprise) but are going for Wilfried Bony from the Ivory Coast. He has been called a goal machine (I believe that is a trademark of a certain SRL).

No.

We've written about this before on here. Perhaps you didn't see it. On one of my rare forays into listening to sport radio, I came across a programme about 4 to 5 years which had a former head of a department of the FA who spoke about this in detail. He spoke about getting a deal together where both Rangers and Celtic would start in League One [IIRC, it may have been the CL or even League Two, but Lge One rings a bell] and would have to stay in the starting division for a minimum two seasons, whether they got themselves into a promotion position or not in the first season. After which they could operate as normal. Negotiations went smoothly, with the PL involved, but then the PL went away and talked about it and came back and said no. So the deal was off, because neither club wanted to be restricted to being in the FL. Shortly after, the FA head resigned. He was intending to leave in any case, and the Rangers/Celtic was going to be the last thing he did before resigning. I'll try to find out his name.

I'm still getting the malware warning even though it's been rolled back. Anyone else still getting it?

I have too RSS. Hopefully should be removed later by Google once they give the all clear.

OK cheers Qwerty. Beefy raised a good point. No predictions game due to the roll back. If the roll back continues past Saturday I won't be able to make my predictions which would be another disastrous moment in my life!
