So that interview I had yesterday, turns out they are interviewing other candidates though I was led to believe they weren't. If I'm competing against others, then I'm screwed. It's like at school sports day, my only chance of getting a medal is if I'm in a race with two other people at most.

Why do you believe that? Why should others believe in you, if you don't. Someone recommended you and you got an interview...even if you don't get the job, you have the right qualities or you wouldn't have got that far.

You gotta stop being so negative. If it helps, I always felt like nothing went my way, and most of the time it didn't. I'd be turned down for jobs, had people screw me over, the lot. But then all it takes is one thing to go right, and then it'll all go up from there. Maybe this job is that one thing. Just keep your chin up, bud.

Chin Up, and be positive.

I've been in the same position as you many times, feeling negative about interviews. The first interview I ever felt positive about going into the interview, I felt fine. If only for those few moments waiting for the interview, try to be positive!

It helps to remember that all interviewers, and I have been that many times, are actually wanting you to do well, to come across at your best. You may not get the job this time but set yourself a goal; to be relaxed and to be yourself at the interview. After that, who knows? Good luck.

That's exactly what I did, and I got a job soon after. Being positive really works out.

Agree with the last few posts. You have to convince them that they mustn't let you get away, and that they have to give you the job. Being positive and self-confident (but not cocky) is the best approach. I have done a fair bit of interviewing over the years, and nervous and apologetic people almost never get selected.

Exactly. How can you convince the interviewer you're awesome if you don't believe it yourself?

"I'm the best man for the job, and here's why."

Most random chat at the gym ever, was on one of benches doing free weights. Looking in the mirror as you do to judge your form etc, this random girl thought I was looking at her. She kept going on that I was looking at her tits, I said why would I be doing that. She said all men are obsessed with tits then said she had a bf and walked off?.
