Without going into whether one has enough in one's life so that Saints don't take over the entire attention span, I have come to a certain point where I've checked my emails, done my business for the short term, looked at some Sailing news, checked out again whether I'd like to sell my Honda VFR and buy an SP1 or 2 instead, and then sneaked onto Newsnow, or some such website and found Saints in the hunt for yet another player, or the same player with a better offer. I'm not cheesed off with Saints, far from it. I'm cheesed off with bloody transfer windows instead. I wasn't keen on the idea of introducing them, in the first place, although I would give them a chance before I made my mind up. But they've proven to be an aid to clubs who have cash to spare, i.e. the already successful bigger clubs, and a hindrance to the poorer, smaller clubs. Their aim was to stop bigger clubs from buying their way out of problems on the pitch, and instead have introduced bigger squads to the few clubs that can afford them, to the detriment to competition. Finally, they take away attention from where it should be - on the pitch.
I suppose they help forums to talk about something to help fill the gaps between games, but that's a poor reason for having them.
