PM Cameron:
I'm glad you're here now.

The link you provide is a very good example of the teething problems this site has endured. However, as can be seen from more recent threads, the problem has been overcome by the general respect shown amongst members, leading progressively toward self-moderation.

I also baulked at what I saw when I first arrived here: it needed a deep breath to take the plunge!

Cosicave:

Glad your here as well. Your the person who has something to say about everything(in a good way) and knows how to debate without offending or arguing.

By the way as I rushed my post no blame was put on Jose/Forza Ferrari about the whole mod thing but there was a lot of threads and debate about it and no real focus on F1. And also I was rushed so my spelling of intelligent was horrible.

<ok>

All happy families now, we settled this place down together and gave everyone a fresh start. I'm happy to say it looks like its worked, which is great!!!
(well done team not606 <ok>)

The destiny of BBC 606 members
My guess is that the semi-professional who founded Clip the Apex will have his henchmen hoovering up as many BBC606 members as possible. For any who wondered about my relationship with this site, which is not directly relevant to this thread, the dirty washing is between the lines.

For anyone else, please skip straight to the asterisk at the bottom of this comment

*N.B. Views expressed here are mine alone and are not fictitious. My personal clash is in itself not a reason to avoid the site, which, if its administration and one of its moderators have overcome such teething problems and become genuinely 'moderate', I would now expect to be quite good.

For these reasons I
would expect the above site to be the most likely beneficiary of the demise of BBC606, particularly since when I parted company it had two excellent and enthusiastic leading members (whom I refer to in the penultimate paragraph between the lines).

Cosicave, I've been a member of CTA for about a year now (my username there and on 606 is Chad Stewarthill, where I was formerly sergeantchadders). I find it sad that you are no longer a contributor to CTA, as I had a lot of respect for your views expressed on 606. But I can say that for those interested, CTA is a very well run site with some fantastic members as you point out.

The main reason for my comment here is that I think it's a pity that all the various forums that have sprung up before and since the news of 606's demise seem to think that they must be rivals. There is no reason why one can't contribute and enjoy a number of different sites; it's each to their own in my view and one doesn't need to choose one forum to the exclusion to all others (unless one wants to, of course).

I joined here at the outset of the F1 board but have only really dipped in and out since. Upon joining I witnessed the fireworks in those chaotic first few weeks when the place seemed to be run by and acted as a haven for all the worst 606 WUMs who had fled here from there for the utopia (to them) of an unmoderated forum where they could spout their ludicrous and in some cases quite vile and openly racist character assassinations of one F1 driver in particular. Thank God that the worst of those days are seemingly over and the forum has to a large extent rehabilitated itself. My only other comment would be to say that I am pretty sure that it's not CTA members who have continued to slag this forum off on 606.

Along with a moderator from Muzz606, Brogan was involved in misrepresenting the Formula 1 section of not606 by picking out offensive threads from the football section to put BBC606 F1 fans off visiting us.

Chadders! Great to see you here!

I completely agree with your comment, which is why I was at pains to explain that the personal experience I recounted should be no reason in itself, to avoid the site. It is not something I have wished to publicize before but was an explanation of my personal lack of interest in a site supposedly run by a professional, who still it seems - according to Genji who has mentioned something I was unaware of - appears to be behaving like a rank amateur. If true - and I have no reason not to believe Genji, then all I can say is "what a shame". I do not like underhand tactics and I do wish to be associated with people who use them.

I have just looked on BBC606, it is certainly going down in flames.

Yes, it's a pyromaniac's paradise over there tonight. I'm over there with my violin, playing a sad lament, he, he.

In a way though, it may make it seem less sad to lose it.

I do not get why there is a BBC606 thread saying Spanish fans jeered Anthony Hamilton as he got shown on TV. Do they think all of the Spanish fans in the crowd are watching BBC? Or do did they not realise that Alonso was going past at the time and they were actually cheering him?

Best ask those who are still contributing to the thread I guess.

Of course you dont get it

All fans see the same tv footage, it's not BBC, it's F1 media feed

The thread was about Spanish fans booing and jeering when Anthony Hamilton was shown in the Force India garage

Did you assume that everyone contributing to that discussion was wrong and that you alone had worked out that it was all a big mistake?

Are we allowed to react to posts in a critical and honest manner on here?

I got a warning for pointing out to a poster who claimed that 'all Italians are bad' that he was talking crap

Am still sad about 606 but I don't miss having to wait two minutes between posts and the absurd over-moderation of some articles. I think the idea of getting three moderators on the F1 board here has worked out brilliantly.
