Mike Ashley wasn't picking him!
Pardew has obviously persuaded MA to let Joey play whille he finds a new club as it will benefit the team's performance, as it has to an extent.
As long as barton is here he will play but ideally for MA he won't be here for long.

What? He said he wasn't wanted but the only man who didn't want him was Ashley. Now he goes and throws a tantrum and leave the club because one man wants him to go.

for all those saying "if he really loved the club..." etc you need to get real. he'll be in line for a signing on fee as he's going on a free. if he gets a 4yr deal it'll literally be worth millions to him and his secuirty is sorted for pretty much the remainder of his career. OR he can stay in a precarious position in his current club knowing they've washed their hands of him and he's taking a risk by staying for teh remainder of his contract.

you all need to get a grip if it came down to 'loving the club' for a year or making millions of pounds and securing your future only a ****ing idiot would say it was even a option. get ****ing real man.

I'd like to point out he's probably already earnt more than i ever will in my life so it's not as if he's strapped for cash

I'm not even gonna get too down about this tbh. If it happens it happens. Nothing we can really do.

I will lose all respect for Joey though. Everything he's ever said about ambition, unfinished business at the club, wanting to stay, only wanting CL football will be complete and utter bullshit if he signs for those relegation candidates.

What is funny though is that all of McKay's chatter about loads of interest was obviously a load of ****e. After all that he's going down to speak to QPR <laugh>

With the amount of players coming in this window, playing for Newcastle is becoming a bit too 'mainstream' for wor Joey <whistle>

Aww I notice a couple of people are saying "he's been off-colour" against Arsenal and the mackems and trying to make out it won't be a bad thing if he goes, but I think that this is just people kidding themselves. Tiote has been off-colour aswell, but if we sold him tomorrow would you use this as an excuse for why he's being sold? Of course not! He's a top player, and his influence in the dressing room, while it may not always be singing to the tune Pardew wants, will be huge.

If we lose Barton, I expect that Colo will leave aswell, and then we realy will be up **** creek without a paddle. I will be hugely disappointed in Barton aswell mind, he's done nowt but bleat on on Twitter that he won't leave unless it's for a bigger club and if he goes to QPR he will go down along with Carroll and Nolan as just another mercenary in my book. You don't have to sign the contract if you don't want to, so if he loved us as much as he says he could just dig his heels in, wait and see if his performances this season persude the Fatman to hand him a contract, or if not take his pick next summer.

If you do go Joey it will show a complete #lackofambition, as you might put it

Yes, and if he does go, just wait for all the 'he was crap anyway' comments.

I'm not sure a move to QPR would show lack of ambition. They are a forward thinking club on the up and have ambitions that extend beyond mere survival.

Newcastle would play with a team of chimpanzees if Ashley was convinced they would stay in the PL. Just think of the reduction in overheads! A bunch of bananas for each player every week and some carpet cleaner ought to cover it.

Would normally have laughed this off, the thing that worries me is QPR have just been taken over by a somewhat ambitious owner and has already annoucned changes and refunds for season tickets and allowing fans under 8 to go for free..

I can see him offering Barton big wages, or why would Barton even begin negotiations if he had no interest in going there, just wasting his own time.. I can also see the chairman trying to get a big coup to get fans on his side, so may spare no expense.
The announcement in last few days he wont be in squad for thursday is also weird and usually a hint he maybe leaving!!

Bad times!!!

Hope im wrong

I'd be happy to play with a bunch of chimpanzees if we would stay up. Think of the money that it'd save.

Gosling looks lika good replacement for Barton - Just don't know what we'll do without his dodgy histerics and dives.

Also, will it affect the dressing room?

yes but that 'one man' who doesn't want him happens to be the wretched owner of our club who subsequently has the power to make Joey's life hell.
And he's hardly throwing a tantrum by going to london to CONSIDER another club who's owner is probably a lot less spiteful and a lot more generous than the one he currently is employed by.

I don't think it's down to this, it's down to the fact Barton had done nowt but say he wouldn't leave us unless it was for a "top club". If we all knew he was going for talks with Spurs, for example, I think everyone would be wishing him well. It's the fact it's QPR that's getting everyones backs up, hardly a top club! If he does go to QPR, he's just another football mercenary thinking about his wage packet, who will say anything to appease the fans of the club when he's there then not giving a **** when it comes to the crunch.
