If he hasn't been able to sort his future out with the money he's been paid so far, he must be a bigger dick than I thought.

Haha. Nah its more about making a shed load of commitments that require you to make payments. They then need a pay packet at least in line with what they earn when they made the investment, or it would impact on their playboy money.

Cause Enrique doesn't have as long a history of being out of order.

So NUFC stick with him for all this time and suddenly a lame tweet that says #josejonasandmenext is the condemnation to come to this drastic decision.

Is their anything that our football club could do that you wont believe and support? Im curious.

It wasn't just Twitter, Barton has been doing after dinner speeches long before Twitter (was mentioned on here at the time) And he spoke very frank and not to kindly of Ashley and Lambias and some of the other players. And his comments were picked up in some area's of the press and no doubtedly got back to MA & DL.

It's no coincedence that Barton signed up to Twatter days after his contract talks broke down, it was withdrawn later.

I don't want him to leave the club, but can understand why MA has done what he has to Barton.

Considering the way the club stuck with him through his hard times, all he needed to do was keep his head down and mouth shut.

So why wasnt Barton fined instead of being told to find a new club?

Enrique was fined and didn't touch Twitter again, then was sold for a fee. Precedents don't exist for Twitter use at the moment, they need to sooner rather than later.

As above.

Barton was no doubt warned, as was Jose when he had to close down his previous account. Odds are the deal for Jose was probably as good as done by the time his comments had come out, so letting him go rather than collecting the £6m+ fee from Liverpool would've been pretty stupid. Given that only QPR have made an attempt to talk to him in three weeks I struggle to believe we'd have received similar for Barton.

I was at the after dinner speeches and Barton was way too open under a barracking from the audience. The fans were getting quite animated early doors as he was giving a few standard answers. There were muted shouts of "tell whats going on man" etc. He did cave in a little and wasn't complimentary about Ashley and Llambiarse. But a fair bit was tongue in cheek too. He made other comments about Taylor and Enrique but it was just banter in the main. I suppose the thing he said which would be classed as stepping over the mark was that "the suits are idiots. they think I'm going to take a massive pay cut. I won't." You can't really call your bosses idiots in an open forum. I still think the club should have just fined him, not withdrawn from contract negotiations. I see it as we unfortunately have an owner who has an ego to match the players. To him that meant you were on the other team and you can **** off. I think he needs to be bigger than that when owning and running a football club.

£500 a table at that speech by the way. Needless to say I wasn't paying!

The reason JE wasnt released is because they wanted him to stay. Enrique could have called Ashley a fat whale who likes little boys and he would never have been released. EVER.

They looked at Barton and they wanted him out. Barton makes a tweet or 2. Brilliant, use this as a tool to feed to the fans and the media. Get rid of him.

Its an excuse. Barton didnt even say anything of any note on Twitter. If its a combination of a lot of things or its his past....then say it!!

Barton and Ashley have both been at the club for four years now, at which point did 'they' make this decision that they don't like him?

Probably when Ashley no longer wanted the club and made the decision to begin to reduce costs. I'd imagine he wanted Barton off the payroll as well as the other high earners. He's almost there now.

I haven't read the posts others have made since this, so it may have been said - But Barton's tweeting is a case of the straw that broke the camel's back, although I hate that cliche.
Since he joined the club in 2007, he's been involved in assaults, been put in prison, had numerous spats with players on the field, fell out with Alan Shearer, made disrespectful comments about the board at after dinner speeches, and probably some other things I've not remembered. Despite all that, I still want the guy to stay, but Ashley deserves some credit for sticking by him when most owners would have hoofed him out long ago.

And yes, there are plenty of things the club could do, and have done, that I don't support. I didn't like the way they treated Keegan, or Shearer, or Hughton. I don't like the way they handle communication with the fans, and how, when they do speak, they often mislead us. I think as far as owners and general club managers go, they're terrible.

Despite what you might think I'm not some blind Ashley/Llambias follower, but I'm also not as deluded as you are that I'll blame everything on them with little regard for the truth and facts.

They've probably never liked him. His type certainly doesn't fit with continental 'yes man' flavour they want.

When he goes, NUFC will not have one single person brave enough or big enough to criticise what they may or may not do. Not even the manager.

The dictatorship is complete.

Enjoy!!!

Please point me in the direction of a player at any club who openly criticises their board, i.e. the man who pays their wages. Joeys antics are nothing to be proud of, and his potential move to a favourite for relegation tells you about top clubs feelings for him.

This for me is the worst thing. The likes of Nolan, Barton etc may be critical in their passion but on a pitch it's what you need sometimes. Look at Arsenal for example; do you ever see a player or the manager criticise another? No. And they're collapsing.

Bollocks of a statement. Cant be assed discussing that rubbish.

So after all of those things they now decide to get rid of him because his contract has finally got to a stage where they can release him.....and use Twitter as an excuse. They could have tried to sell Barton at any stage during all of that list you made. But they havent. Because nobody wanted him probably.

i would agree with them to sell him...................if he hadnt just had his best season and has clearly shown his value and worth.

Only a f*cking moron would get rid of Barton after he has shown to have changed his life around, got on with the job, shown his class on the pitch. End of.

NUFC should have sold him 2 years ago if they dont like his off the field activity and want to reduce the wage bill.

Im done with this now.

A host of clubs have personalities in the squad that would speak out if the club was going down the pan.

We used to have those. They have now all been sold.

If our ship starts sinking.....who is gonna have the balls to stop it??? Obertan? Marvauex? Pardew.....??!

Open ur eyes.

Thank you.

Common sense prevails.

He was probably still in the nick 2 years ago, I full agree with Kid canary and can see past the Ashley hatred to try and take in all the facts not just assume everything is MA's fault.

Stam at Man Utd criticised SAF and he was booted out - Man Utd are hardly collapsing.

Assumption is the mother of all **** ups I saw somewhere on here aimed at me.

You all seem to assume I hate Ashley and will criticise the way he combs his hair in the morning. Your wrong. I judge him for what he does. Nothing else.

This Barton situation is a joke. End of.

We aren't talking about one of our fringe players here. This isnt an NZogbia situation. This lad is huge for us this season. Massive. Let the c*nt go for free just cause his face doesnt fit and he has a twitter account.

You lot are f*cking mugs.

Now im done.
