Gareth Bale's move to Real Madrid has taken a step closer after the Tottenham star told Andre Villas-Boas he wants to join the La Liga side, talkSPORT understands.
The 24-year-old reported for training on Wednesday morning and it's understood the former Southampton star held talks with the Portuguese boss about his future.
Real Madrid have reportedly bid £85million for the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year and, despite Spurs' desire of an offer closer to £100m, Bale's request to leave will allow the deal to be concluded swiftly.
The meeting appears to remove one of the last obstacles in front of the deal and Bale is widely expected to become a Real Madrid player in the coming weeks.
 
Good luck to the lad, I know thats easy for someone to say who doesnt support Spurs but they have had the lad for 6 years now and watched him grow and had some great nights in the CL wheres hes tore world class teams apart, I think failing to reach the CL last season was it for Bale as hes at a stage in his career where he should be playing year in year out in the CL.

I dont see how any Spurs fan can hold anything against Bale for leaving to play in a team with his idol (Ronaldo) and enhance his earning/career etc.

Spurs should be planning on life without Bale already and if they spend the money right then they could still be able to reach 4th spot next season, especially if the deal involves Modric returning.

A shame the Premier League is losing another world class player though, other than Van Persie the league's quality is certainly reducing with the loss of Bale.
