Only that he just went on and on (in his knowledgeable way); argued with OLM; didn't need to read the papers; in fact KNEW IT ALL!

And then - when it came out that Hooper was likely for Norwich - appeared to do a U-turn, on his beliefs/what he'd said/value & worth of Hooper/ etc.

(Read some of the Hooper/Austin threads (2 of) and see).

One of those 360 degree u-turns

Charlie Austin is now 1/5 to join City suggesting a deal is as good as done.

Hold on to your dosh though - there's no such thing as a dead cert. If only life was as simple as that.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Burnley have rejected a bid from Bournemouth for striker Danny Ings because of the situation surrounding Charlie Austin. Sounds like they're going to let him leave, but suggestions that a fee has been agreed are apparently wide of the mark and they're denying we've made a second bid (surely we have?). Interest from Stoke is apparently also media generated and has no substance.

Just.....buy him already.

Burnley will deny anything at the moment in hope that other Clubs raise the offer. I'm pretty sure there was already a fee agreed but because of outside interest (don't know who), it made Burnley think twice about going through with it. Hopefully, we're the only Club to offer so far and it should be seen through.

Would have hoped we'd be talking to the player and his agent by now.

Having watched the serious rumour squads gather momentum since the last day of the season, my money has and always has been on Austin, Hooper at 31 seems like he may have a couple of good years left in him, but definitely a big step up playing regular in the Premier League, Austin few years younger and still time to improve, a good sized unit who puts it about a bit, no brainer for me. I have a sneaky suspicion that Aluko will be the second striker, gotta say wets my appetite putting him and a good big `un together (aka Austin).

Apart from Holts age, I agree with ^^^^^ this.

HDM also says we've made it clear we'll only be bringing one in*. Say goodbye to our Premier League status then :emoticon-0114-dull:

Why will we ?

What's funny about him saying we should sign both players?

We should sign both IF possible. But if Hooper wants to elsewhere then move onto Billy Sharp who is available and so much cheaper. Some Scunny fans rate Sharp better than Hooper anyway and they should know better than any of us.

We're 3/1 to sign Austin.
Stoke were almost the same odds, but they just dropped to 16/1.

SkyBet have Hull City as 1/5 now. Stoke never were after Austin according to the media in the Potteries.

Would have hoped we'd be talking to the player and his agent by now.

It would not surprise me at all that we are doing just that.
