Actually I DO expect early season aberrations. What was the Fulham game but an early season team-wide aberration (and JR didn't in fact have a particularly good game that day)? But these aberrations are no reason to slag guys off or accuse them of being unfit or not preparing properly for the season, as some people have Grant Holt. As I said in my post, it usually takes until mid-October before teams and players get fully into the groove and the idea that every player can be expected to be in peak condition and on top of his game from the start is way off the mark.

My third paragraph wasn't addressed to you redruth, but to people who HAVE been having a go at him and slagging him off. My own opinion is that while he certainly hasn't been at his best, he hasn't been particularly poor either. Indeed against QPR and in particular Spurs, I thought he played pretty well. But I also think that Morison did well when he came on, and like you, I would be in favour of starting Morison against Newcastle. <ok>

I'm sure there are many fans who would love his season ticket - even if only on days when we don't kick off at 3pm!!!!

I don't disagree at all with the basis of what you are saying. For a Club of our size and with our limited resources what we have achieved in the last three years is unbelievable and if we can stay up this year it will be another momentous achievement. As you have said yourself we are never going to be able to guarantee a permanent place in the Premiership and sooner or later we will go down whether it be this year, next year or after that. The strength of the squads in this years Premiership is stronger than last years and this trend will continue especially with some of the larger Clubs in the Championship having the money to buy their way into the Premiership. I look at this years Premiership and hand on heart cannot name 3 teams who I think will finish beneath us and on that basis i think we will finish 18th. I am not saying that we are going to collapse like a pack of cards and finish bottom with fewer points than Derby got and I fully expect us to be in with a chance of survival to near the bitter end. I hope I am wrong and will be as delighted as anyone if we are still in the Premiership next year. You think we will finish one place higher than I do - I hope you are right - so there is hardly the Grand Canyon between us. Hardly justifies descibing me as a doom and gloom monger!!

we aren't far away from where we want to be. a few tweaks here and there and wins will start coming. its the same people who are normally moaning at this time of year doing it now... you'd think they'd learn their lesson! hitting the ground running rarely happens. norwich as a club are having a whale of a time right now and us fans should embrace it and enjoy it. we aren't a big club - we don't have a right to be in this league, and its incredibly tough to stay up. there's nothing wrong with holt, nothing at all. people are looking for reasons as to why he hasn't scored or why he had a poor game at the weekend... facts are, he hasn't even had a decent sniff of goal yet this season! and so what if he had a poor game? he played really well against spurs so its not as if he's become crap overnight. i wish people would stop trying to find things to moan about!! what the hell are you like when there are major problems at our club????

i wasn't aiming the doom and gloom at you in particular! but you are basing your judgement on gut feeling rather than any substantial facts. we are more likely to stay up than we are to go down - there are only three spots in the relegation zone and although we can't compete at the top end of the division, there are at least another ten places we could finish in. ok, its basic odds but 17th or higher is the aim this season and i think one or two have forgotten that and are aiming too high already.

I don't expect Holt to score as many as last year, (more than happy to be wrong with this prediction), the reason being is that he will be more closely marked, often drawing two defenders, this is to our advantage as it will create more space/.opportunties for other players, so all is good.

i think that could be right longsight, but even if he doesn't score the same level of goals it isn't cos he can't be arsed cos he's sitting on his new pay cheque or cos he doesn't want to be here or cos he's fat or cos he's become rubbish overnight or god knows what! not many players score 15+ goals in the premier league each year, even players worth £20m+

Pretty much what I said a couple of weeks ago. I think Jackson sometimes need to look to see if any other NCFC player has a good chance of scoring instead of always going for goal himself - Holty can be guilty of this too!!
