I think you'll find that what damn fools do is add fuel to the fire by making rash personal statements about AA in public forums, whether they are accurate or not they are simply lighting the blue touch paper.

Did I say, or even suggest, that people should, in your words, 'shut the **** up'? I think you'll find the answer is no. What I maybe did suggest was that some should return their pitch forks to the shed and allow those of the '1904 group' to go about their business in a more discreet and professional manner, mate.

No, you didn't. You posted that comment was unwelcome and damaging - did I get it wrong about who's comment?

I don't think he is. I think the vast majority are in the don't care/don't like but won't resist camps.

Yep I think this is the case. Nobody wants the name change but also, don't see it as a huge problem that will dictate whether the attend games or not.

I signed the petition, but I won't oppose The Doctor. I will oppose solely the name change if I feel what I'm doing might make a difference. So far I haven't thought of or seen any suggestions that will make a difference.

I bet there are plenty of people who signed the petition who don't like the name change but won't campaign. I also bet there are supporters from other clubs who signed it from goodwill.

Obviously he doesn't understand then.

No, I think as a businessman he probably understands it pretty well, he just isn't interested at all. If the Deep was going under and you could afford it, would you bother forking out the cash if you weren't interested in marine life in the slightest?

Comment is certainly not unwelcome and damaging as long as it's constructive.

What, imho, is neither welcome nor constructive, and also potentially very damaging, are the disparaging personal comments relating to AA, of which I have seen many. I wasn't responding to any one post in particular, there are many that can be picked out, across all of the forums. What is quite amusing is these very posters slate AA for comments that he's made, and then proceed to make comments that wholly deserve to be slated!

Which was my original position as well. I would prefer the name not to change, but I could understand the Allam position if he felt there was some merit in changing.

If he behaves like a **** people will call him a ****. This applies to everyone else in life so why should Allam be exempt?

He's had an easy ride for far too long from our fans who go out of their to convince themselves his mad ideas are all part of some master plan. Finally people are realising he's a clueless ****er who happened to save the club.

Sorry, I was just making a tongue in cheek comment. Everyone on here who has said they aren't bothered by the name change has been told they are fools who "just don't get it"

I get it, I just don't think it's that important. As you say, would you fork out if you see no merit in doing so.

Fair enough, I didn't catch on. That happens a lot. Although you can understand something and not be arsed by it. I understand stellar evolution, I just don't really give that much of a **** about it right now.

This is the most ironic post on here for a long time.

Dishonest, manipulative, divisive, arrogant, bombastic, insulting, demeaning, intolerant.

All of the above can be applied to AA and backed up with fact that is in the public domain - none of them deserve to be slated. If he reads this and thinks nothing of it then we can add insular to that; if he dislikes being thought of in this way then we should add naïve.

Not saying it will not make it go away; but it might add resolve to those who have opposed him for some time.

60,000 followers on Twitter, 4,500 on the petition against the name change, that's only 7.5%, so maybe he's right?

I don't do twatter so I might be wrong but I would have thought a lot of journalists would be following

I also know of plenty of fans that haven't signed the online petition because they don't like using the internet. Yeah its the older generation but they are still fans
