Vermaelen came from the Dutch League.
Ryo was sent there to learn his trade.
Arteta spent some good time in the SPL.

I hope / expect Arsenal to win, but I don't expect them to destroy Saints. To be honest I'd take a 1-0 win if it meant a clean sheet, I'd rather that than a 3-2.

We're not a pub team mate.

It will be great to see your reaction at 5pm on Saturday .

Mate, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick.
I'm the one who is saying that we shouldn't go into this game expecting an easy win.

I'm going to this one :) I've looked forward to a chance to go to the emirates for years and I'm so happy it's finally come round.

It's an interesting one this one. I feel that both teams have some pretty decent attacking line ups on display. I would say there should be goals from both sides, but Arsenal's defence has impressed me of late.

I think we'll score, but Arsenal will run out 3-1 winners, breaking us down with two in the last twenty minutes or so.

Easy win.

Not every game is the same. I'm extremely confident of an easy win.

Without wishing to sound arrogant, if we don't soundly thrash them i'll be disappointed. Whilst we finally sorted our defence out, they didn't bother with theirs and just signed loads of attackers.

Their defence is League 1 standard (aside from Clyne, who's half decent).

We are going to win, whether they're motivated or not.

Santi Cazorla vs League 1 defenders.

The prosecution rests.

If we don't win by a Rugby score, I'm going to come round your house and smoke all of your sensi <ok>

Has the Markus Liebherr Trophy win gone to your heads a bit lads? <laugh>

On a serious note, never underestimate your opposition. Yes your expected to win, but word of advice: Write teams off at your peril <ok> We know from experience down in League One!

To be honest it makes **** all difference if we write Southampton off. As long as our players don't then hopefully we'll not be complacent and get the job done. <ok>

Cazorla will have 3 very strong midfielders to contend with before he gets to the defence. All technically able, hard pressers. He'll need to play very well to get much change out of them.

He's not our only player you realise. We do actually have a pretty good midfield apart from Cazorla :p. Apart from Aaron Ramsey, you'll destroy him.

Read the thread properly . . .

You'll see that my comment was in response to those who were saying this would be an easy win. I don't think we should underestimate any team - which if you'd read the thread, you would have known <ok>

In which case I apologise to you <ok>

Some people are underestimating us though, and I still aim my comment at them!

Fair play fella <ok> and I agree with you. We shouldn't be underestimating anyone. We'be been beaten by Hull and Wigan at the Emirates in the last few years. Any win that we get, we have to go out and earn. If we simply turn up and think we've got it in the bag before we've even kicked off then we'll be in for a nasty surprise. Southampton were a whisker away from scoring a 3rd against Utd, if they had of, they may well have gone on to win that game.

I don't underestimate Southampton, I think they're a fairly good team, I'd like to see them stay up, they play good football and go about business properly. I just think that we'll be to strong on the day, it doesn't speak volumes of how good or bad Southampton are, I just think it'll be one of those games.

Who's going to the game?

My team for 2morow would be:

Chesney

Gibbs
TV
Mertesacker
Jenkinson

Arteta
Ramsey

Podolski
Cazorla
Gervino

Giroud

Cazorla isn't the only one you will have to deal with, you will also have to deal with Podolski, who is also very strong, :-), plus, we will have as many midfielders in the middle to battle it out, as you will. And so far our midfield have shown they are very well and able to deal and win the midfield battle.

Can i change my prediction? I've just seen Diaby is out, so we'll probably start Ramsey. If he plays like he did on Tuesday, we're doomed.

Whoever said 3-1 to Southampton may be correct.

SJW posted the link earlier. Apparently Diaby isn't being risked for this game, which means we'll start Ramsey and lose.

My team for the game

If Coq is moaning, we can't give him the satisfaction of starting, we need to put him in his place. Koscielny can play DM, and is athletic enough to go forward too.

Chamberlain was poor against Liverpool and apparently poor for England in both their games, so i'd drop him too.

Vito's been doing a nice job so i'd keep him in, why upset the balance?

No chance Kos will play DM on Sat. It'll be Ramsey or Coq to start.
Wenger said Diaby was 50/50 and would have a fitness test tomorrow morning. So I've no idea how anyone can know already.
